Bus Expectations
School bus transportation is a privilege afforded pupils by the Board of Education. It is not a right. To protect the safety and well-being of all involved, pupils must adhere to established bus conduct rules. Bus transportation privilege may be revoked if the pupil does not observe bus conduct expectations.
Masks
We rely on donations for extra kid masks and we do not have enough masks to supply one to students each day. Please help your child put on their masks before getting out of the car. Thank you in advance for your support as we keep our students safe and healthy.

Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of culture and origin of Latinos and Hispanic Americans in the United States. We will announce facts of the day about important Latino and Hispanic Americans.
School-level COVID Protocols
If you suspect that you or your child may have COVID, please keep them home until you get the results or symptoms subside. Your child will be able to make up any work they have missed when they return. Again, the absences your student accumulates will not be counted against them. Please help us slow the spread. Thank you in advance for your understanding and attention to this matter.
Title I Family Math Night: Virtual
Will now be held on Wednesday, October 20 for students in grades K-2 and Thursday, October 21 for students in grades 3-5.
We will help parents better understand the state academic math standards and skills to practice along with online resources to support student learning.
Digital Support Staff
We are beginning supports for our students with extended absences due to COVID. We have two Digital Support team members who will provide assistance to your child with their school work.
Ms. Amy Beasley will be the Digital Support Staff Member for students in Grades K-2. Ms. Beasley will be online at the following times, Mondays from 3-4:30; Thursdays from 3-4:30; and Fridays from 3-4. Here is the link to the virtual support she will be providing for students in grades K-2. You can email Ms. Beasley at amy.beasley@dcssga.org if you have any questions.
Ms. Kim Carroll will be the Digital Support Staff Member for students in Grades 3-5. Ms. Carroll will be online at the following times, Tuesdays from 3-4:30 and Wednesdays from 3-4:30. Please email Mrs. Carroll at kim.carroll@dcssga.org if your child is in 3rd-5th grades and needs support. Here is the link to the virtual support she will be providing to students in grades 3-5.
Birthdays
As a reminder, we do not allow whole birthday cakes or any birthday treats that are individually wrapped.
We enjoy honoring our students on their birthday. We announce the birthday child’s name on the morning announcements and allow families to bring in treats within the guidelines below.
Cupcakes/snacks must be store bought AND prepackaged/individually wrapped.
Also, you may want to think about non-food items. The items listed below will still make your child feel special and they will last a lot longer than a food item.
- A game for the classroom
- A classroom book (A nice touch would be having your child pick it out, sign it, and date it.)
- A classroom set of items for each child to keep such as pencils, pens, erasers, markers, etc.
Title I Parent Resource Center
The Parent Resource Room is now open. If you wish to visit, please make an appointment via email to either Mrs. Frett or Ms. Summers.

Car Rider Lane Guidelines
- Car riders may only be dropped off and picked up within the designated car rider zone.
- Morning student drop-off begins at 7:00 AM. Afternoon dismissal of car riders begins at 2:25 PM.
- Have your child gather their belongings prior to getting to the front of the car rider lane.
- Have your child put their mask on before getting out of the car.
- All drivers should remain in cars.
- Remember to unlock your doors.
- Students MUST wait until FSES School Staff opens the car door in order to proceed from vehicles. This is for the safety of all students.
- If possible, all students should be loaded and unloaded through passenger side doors- Curb Side.
- Passing is not permitted in Car Rider Line. Like school bus loading and unloading zones, violators will have license plates turned over to the DCSS Police Department.
If you or the person who is picking up your child in the afternoon does not have the blue Car Rider Identification card, they will have to pick up the child from the front office and have their ID available for our front office staff to check. This is for the safety of your child. Thank you for your understanding.
We thank you in advance for adhering to our rules as they all help keep your students safe around moving vehicles.

Absences and Tardies
Please do not send sick students to school. Students who are absent must submit a valid excuse for their absence within 3 days of the absence. Please only send a parent note or doctor's note. Attendance Notes should contain the student's full name, grade, date(s) of absence(s), parent's signature and contact number. Absences that are 3 consecutive days or longer require a doctor's note.
