· Venus is the second plant from the Sun and the 6th largest planet in our solar system and is 900 degrees.
· Venus and Earth are almost alike – scientists calls them twins or sisters.
· Venus is 26 million miles away from Earth and rotates backward or opposite of the Earth. The Sun rises from the west and sets in the east
· One year on Venus is equal to 225 days on Earth.
· Venus is named after the Ancient Roman Goddess of Love .
· It takes 227.9 days for Venus to orbit around the Sun.
· If you look at Venus through a telescope, the planet looks brown.
The surface of Venus
- The surface of Venus is smooth however with valconos lava flows, and rifty valleys..
- Venus has the longest mountain range campared to the Nile River.
- Venus surface is about 300 to 500 million years old.
- The biggest valcano is 3 times larger than Mount Everest.
The Atmosphere on Venus
- The atmosphere is composed of about 96% carbon dioxide, most of the remainder nitrogen.
- The atmosphere appears clear until the cloud deck which is about 50km above the surface.
- The upper atmosphere are high velocity winds but below the cloud deck appear stagnant.
- The pressure of the atmosphere is about 90 times that of the Earth.
Would you want to live on Venus if you could?
- No, because you will get burned from the heat.
- The air is not breathable.
- Venus is not the ideal planet for life of any kind.
