Academic Update
Students continued to work on our literary skills for character, setting, problem, solution and character traits. Students did well mastering the parts of the friendly letter. (heading, greeting, body, closing, and signature) We actually wrote our letter to the names of family and friends you provided. We have a few "final" editing marks to correct and then we will be ready to mail them next week.
In math we reviewed strategies for adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers without regrouping. We used manipulatives to help us grasp the concepts better. We also worked on finding the "unknown" answer to an addition or subtraction problem. We are using a "box" to identify the unknown number. We will be looking at finding the "beginning unknown" number as we compare problems.
We learned about one of our greatest explorers of all time, Christopher Columbus. He sailed on one of his 3 ships, the Santa Maria. The other ships were the Nina and the Pinta. We continued talking about community workers as we prepare for our Community Walk. We even shared at a few community projects.
