Principal's Message
I want to begin today to recognize the wonderful students we have in our school. It is easy to get caught up in the negative talk about “today’s youth” that we hear in the media, but that is certainly not our experience at CMS. Our students are kind, respectful, and hard-working, and we love the opportunity we have to help them grow as learners.
We have just come through a fairly busy April, featured by the Grade 6 musical, Pirates! The cast and chorus on both nights sang with enthusiasm as they presented the story of a singing pirate crew and how a stowaway helped them get ready for a singing competition with confidence. Thanks to all the students and staff who worked hard to prepare all our students for this celebration of learning! One other significant feature in April was the Invention Convention hosted at our school. Grade 7 students from across HSD came to CMS with their inventions, all designed to address a real problem. The afternoon was a display of creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking! Well done!!
As the end of the school year draws near, we are beginning the annual process of helping our Grade 8 students prepare for moving to high school, and for welcoming students who will be in Grade 5 at CMS next year. These transitions can be challenging, and even a little scary, for students, and we want to do everything we can to minimize that stressful time.
Now that winter is over, we hope for a great growing season this spring. Our new grass on the south side of our playground is thirsty, and we are hoping for some rain to provide the water. We will be keeping that side closed until we are certain the grass has had a chance to root well in order to be able to survive the strain of daily play.
This month, we are looking forward to Science Days on May 9 and 10, and also the Medieval Feast for Grade 8 students on May 11. And check out our Instagram feed (clearspringhsd) to see the results of our Day of Design last week.
Thanks for the trust you place in us by sending your children to our school every day. We take this trust seriously, and want to be worthy of the trust every day.
