Principal's Message
- Students may use their cell phones or Smart Watches on the way to and from school. However, during the school day, these devices need to be out of sight and not used.
- Any communication home should come from the teacher or office.
- Students who wish to drop their instruments off at the auditorium on lesson days should now bring them inside through the main entrance. All other doors will remain closed until the class comes inside.
- During the month of January our school wide PBIS focus is having a positive growth mindset.
Growth mindset: “In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.”
( Dweck, 2015)
Some Ways you can Model a Growth Mindset at Home
- Allow your own children to see you experience a hard time and use different strategies to overcome the challenges you face.
Avoid telling your children that they are smart, gifted, or talented
When you tell your child they are clever, gifted, or talented, you are implying that they were born with these talents, which might discourage them from putting out extra work and progress if this is “how they are” or “what they were born with.”
Use Praise and Encouragement
Praise your children when they exhibit a development attitude. Praise effort, hard work, practice, compassion, courage, and growth mindset qualities that will help children realize their actual potential, such as not giving up and sticking to their objective, rather than just saying “good job.”
Praise the Effort not the Result
Allow children to make mistakes and encourage them to keep trying.
As a parent, it’s difficult to see your child fail and make a mistake, much alone allow them to fail and make errors, yet children learn the most when we give them the room to do so. Children make mistakes when learning a new skill.
Assign Tasks to Children
Use Words That Inspire Growth Mindset
Use positive affirmations and growth mindset language in your daily life to promote a growth mindset and resiliency. Encourage your child to never give up, to be brave, to trust themselves, to undertake the difficult things, and to give it their all.
Let Your Child Know Their Brains Can Get Stronger
Help them face challenges with a positive attitude
Model using the language of "not yet." If they can't do something, you might say you can't yet.

Cold Weather Reminders
- It is important that students dress in warm layers when cold temperatures are expected. Students should remember to bring hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, coats, snow pants and boots. It is recommended that families label these items with their children’s names,
- Our staff will carefully monitor students while outside and take the necessary steps to ensure students are appropriately clothed/prepared for the cold weather, watching out for signs of frostbite and other cold-related issues.

Being Prepared in the Event of an E-Learning Day
- Beginning Monday, November 21, students will be bringing home their iPads home each night. Many of our students have already been doing this, but for our younger students this will likely be a change in practice. This will be in effect until Spring Break.
- Students should come to school daily with their iPad fully charged
- In the event of an E-Learning Day, students will log on to their homeroom teacher's Zoom Link which will be shared with you at 8:00 a.m. for attendance.
- If your child will be absent on an E-Learning Day, you will notify the homeroom teacher and office as usual.
- They will follow the regular school day, working both synchronously and asynchronously. When it is time for music for example, they will go to the music zoom.
