Reminders
- Monthly book logs will now be coming home from me instead of the library. I will keep track of the logs and continue to send home rewards and pizza coupons for completing them. The logs were collected from the beginning of the year until January for Reading- Round Up that is held at the end of the year. If your child turned in their logs they will get to participate! I still want to encourage reading at home with your child each night!
- Your kiddos have a bag that they will be bringing home with books on their levels inside! I will change the books periodically and adjust them based on their new reading level. Please keep track of the books they bring and make sure to send the bags and books back to school each day!!
- Raz kids is also a great website to access at home that I shared with you all at parent teacher conferences. To log in use the teacher username rehan0bp and their password is their birthday (ex: 09192010) https://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login
Dates To Remember
- March 8th- Music concert (Please return attendance forms)
- March 11th- Reading round up celebration
Reader's Workshop
This week we focused on retelling literature books. When we retell we start with the characters, setting problem, events, and then solution. Retelling is a great way to make sure your kiddos are comprehending stories that they are reading or stories that you read to them!
Writer's Workshop
We started immersing ourselves in non-fiction All About books! This is our next unit of study where students will create their own All About book. They can choose any topic that they are already an expert on (animals, places, or people are just a few ideas) I told them to start thinking of their topic over the weekend. A great way to support this new unit would be to research information for their book with them. Feel free to pick a topic and start learning more! A great kid-friendly site to use at home- http://www.kidrex.org
Math
This week in math we focused on subtraction! We learned that the terms subtract, minus, and take-away all mean the same thing. We played some great games to reinforce the skill and also worked on subtraction story problems.
