A Message from your Principals
Hello Parents and Families,
January is coming to an end and we are nearing the 100th day of school! This period of time is our sweet spot. Students are settled into the most productive part of the school year. All the hard work of putting routines in place, building relationships, and establishing a focused learning environment is paying off and we are seeing incredible growth in our students. As always, thank you for partnering with us in this important work!
The administrative team is focusing on refining and aligning our expectations in the afterschool clubs and workshops. We are teaming up with Jill to remind students of the Seek the Peak expectations including recognition (StP tickets) and consequences. Our after school programs are critical to students, families and the school. We want to ensure a positive, safe and engaging environment in all our programs. Thank you for supporting our efforts.
We are also addressing our school policies regarding harassment with the upper grades. It is important for students to be able to understand this complex topic and recognize the difference between typical social conflict and harassment. Here is the poster we have displayed around the school, in case you would like to familiarize yourself with the specific definition and vocabulary.
We are getting closer to hiring our new Family and Community Liaison. The job posting is still open, so if this is something you or someone you know is interested in, please let us know.
Have a fantastic week! It looks like some stellar Colorado weather!

A Message from Students Accepting Donations
"We have started to make donation boxes to help people all around the world. We had this idea because we read a book called Thirst and it was about a girl without clean water. So we wanted to help people start to get clean water and more water so that is why we started to make our business, Water for the World.
In the world right now there are people that don’t have water and some are really struggling to stay alive because they don’t have water. This crisis is taking place all over the world. We are going to use the money to build wells in towns that don’t have enough water to stay alive. So our goal is to build wells everywhere that needs them. Our plan to make the wells is to use the money. So you aren’t just giving water, you're saving lives. So thank you for your help." -Stryker, Willie, and Brody (Students of Kylie Collins Fourth Grade Class & Camille Polster's Fifth Grade Class)
Attention 2nd Grade Families
STEM class needs more empty tissue boxes for building projects. Feel free to drop them by the front office or send them in with your students.

Opportunities for Active Fun Before School
Open Gym for 4th and 5th graders on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 - 8:25 starting January 10th. Start your day off right with some exercise and fun with your friends in the gym! There's a ton of research that highlights the impact of early morning activity to "SPARK" your day.
The Morning Mile is still running, thanks to the CB Nordic Center! Students may run, walk, jog or even NORDIC SKI on the groomed track in front of CBCS! If your children have their own cross country skis they are welcome to ski (or run/walk) before school, anytime from 7:50-8:25. Students may leave their skis in the skateboard rack at the school entrance and then take home at the end of the day. Hope to see you out there on the track! Cheers to healthy habits in 2023! Thanks again to the CB Nordic Center for grooming and providing this opportunity for our students and families!
The Latest from the PTA
Feb. 1 Deadline to apply for the new Family & Community Liaison position:
Do you know anyone who loves connecting with the community, has experience either in schools or in nonprofit work, enjoys both hands-on engagement as well as program development? The PTA and Rotary Club are proud to be partnering with CBCS to fund a pilot program this school year to explore the long-term benefits of having a staff position within the school to help with volunteers, family engagement, and community partnerships. We believe that embedding such a role within the school will create an affordable, sustainable way to multiply the resources to our school and foster even more support for our students. Please share this announcement ASAP if you know someone who would like some part-time work thru mid-summer, and would like to help launch this incredible resource for our school. Questions? Contact Margaux Helvey, president@crestedbuttepta.org or learn more at https://crestedbuttepta.org/family-and-community-liaison/
