Family Newsletter
4/3/22
Yay- our 5th grade field trip was a success this week. Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who were able to attend and help out with the trip! It is great that these kids got to do this after missing it in 4th grade last year. Everyone is getting excited for upcoming field trips this quarter. Please keep an eye on your classroom newsletter for further details.
We are rolling into spring- please be sure that kiddos have appropriate clothing and shoes to be playing outside. I know it can get muddy, so please send your child in clothes that it's okay to get yucky.
For our 3-5th grade parents, please be sure that you are sending in headphones for your child to begin practicing for the MAP test. 4th and 5th grade is testing the week of April 18th and 3rd grade is testing the week of April 25th. This is a great way for our students to show all that they have learned during their time at Robinson. We have seen such great growth this year and we are so proud of our students and staff hard work.
This week we are celebrating our Assistant Principal, Library staff, and paraprofessionals and teacher assistants. There are so many great staff members to celebrate, please consider having your child write a card or say thank you to one of these staff members to highlight they great work they do.
Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

I am so excited about the many fun trips coming up that our students are going to get to experience, and I am writing because I have received many questions regarding upcoming field trips. If you are attending a field trip with your child's classroom and are not going to be chaperoning students out of view of the teacher, you do not need the security background check.
For those parents who are chaperoning students outside of the view of the teacher, (for example: if you are at the zoo, and want to take a group of students to see the bears, and the teacher is viewing the penguins) you must complete a volunteer application. You may complete the application and email it to Human.resources@kirkwoodschools.org, as a reminder you can always drop the application off at the school in which your children attend. Finally, when needed, the application can be dropped off at the main entrance at the new Turner location.

In regards to taking your student with you from a field trip, you must return to Robinson to sign your child out. We do this for the protection of the children in our care. Teachers do not have access to legal documentation of who can/cannot take a child, they do not have Infinite Campus when off campus, and they cannot check your identification. They need signed out in Infinite Campus for attendance purposes and so that Adventure Club and staff know that they have been released to an approved adult. I realize that this may be an inconvenience and I appreciate your understanding that it is for the safety of our students.
After two years of waiting, we are finally ready to bring back our district-wide Many Cultures, One Kirkwood event!! This grand celebration of world cultures will take place on Friday, April 29th from 6-8 pm in the gym/cafeteria at Tillman Elementary School, 230 Quan Avenue. We will need help to set up, put on the event, and clean up after it is over.
We hope to have all slots filled on this page by Friday, April 22nd, one week before the event. Also, we would like to have donated items to the ELL Specialist at your school by April 22nd. This will give us one week to finish preparing. If you have questions, please contact the ELL Specialist at your school:

Robinson Elementary is hosting a Kindergarten Open House and Scavenger Hunt on April 27th from 5-6PM. Our smallest friends will find and explore the Kindergarten classrooms, special areas, and cafeteria; meet the Kindergarten teachers and tour a school bus. If you haven't had the chance to register your kindergartener, you will have the opportunity to do that in-person at the event with two proofs of residency. We encourage families to only bring their special Kindergartener as a way to celebrate this milestone!
Robinson PTO Board Needs Volunteers for 22-23 School Year
All open board positions are "elect" positions which means you will work alongside the current board member for a year before transitioning into the role. We recognize many of us are stretched thin in life and couldn't imagine carving out any extra time. But this type of community service really is rewarding especially when you see the joy on our students' and teachers' faces.
If we have a strong, diverse team we can strike a balance with time commitment and will be more successful at building a Robinson community that is connected, engaging and enriched!
All are welcome! Please contact us as robinsonpto@kirkwoodschools.org if you would like to hear more or are interested in joining our Board.
On Tuesday, May 24 our Robinson Roadrunner choir will be back in action to perform God Bless America at the Cardinal’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The game starts at 6:45pm. If your student would like to sing God Bless America with the Robinson Roadrunner Choir, behind home plate, please use link, https://forms.gle/9f5vu4scWvF5Wagq6 or QR code to sign up for choir! Information regarding tickets coming soon!
