A Note from the Principal

Greetings Nicolas Valley families,

We have very quickly kicked off the second semester of this school year. I know we were all hoping for a smooth transition into January, unfortunately this hasn't necessarily been the case for many. We are grateful for every day that each of your students are here at Nicolas Valley, healthy and ready to learn. If your child does need to remain at home, due to illness, please make sure to call our attendance line. You can also reach out to your child's teacher for classroom work. If the length of the absence is going to be more than a couple of days, you can reach out to the front office to request an independent study. We are hoping for more stability in attendance in February.

Before school tutoring began this month for second graders in math and third, fourth, and fifth graders in both Language Arts and Math. Please make sure your child arrives on time, since they only have 30 minutes each session. It is also important that if you have decided to send your child to tutoring that s/he attends as regularly as possible to avoid disruptions to the group.

We were excited to celebrate all of our students who met their iReady goals in either Language Arts or Math or both at our Friday flag ceremony. These students worked very hard first semester to master academic standards. We had many students who actually reached their entire year's stretch growth already. Way to go and keep up the hard work! Everyone has the opportunity to meet these goals second semester.

In February, we look forward to kicking off our Kids Heart Challenge. We encourage all of our students to participate in thinking about healthier lifestyles. This looks different for everyone- maybe eating better or exercising more! Our "live" event will be held on campus on the 25th, students will get to have some fun jump roping with their entire grade level.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. Our email addresses are or

Public Service Announcement

Remember to always lock your car doors and keep valuables with you at all times. We have had a couple of parents report stolen items or car break ins over the last couple of weeks. If this does happen to you, make sure and call the police, not the school, to file a police report.

Pick up/Drop off Reminder

The lane closest to the curb is for drop off and pick only. Cars are Never to be left unattended. It is an emergency lane, and cars need to move quickly if an emergency vehicle is called. If you want to walk onto campus, you will need to use the pass through lane and park in the lot or on the street.

Kindergarten parents must all park and walk onto campus for the safety of our littlest students. The above rules also apply during each of your arrival and dismissal times. Do not leave your car in the lane to walk up to the gate.
