Nurture. Collaborate. Own
Scarborough's Summary
Hello all- I was asked by Mr. Hunter to share with the elementary school principals at our meeting this week the model we use of Gradual Release (our workshop model). I was so honored he asked me to share because I was able to showcase the impressive work you all have done here this year with our new model of instruction. I highlighted our collaborative planning model, the implementation of the I Can statements, connect, etc.. (I Do, We Do, You Do), and how our data is showing growth. After the meeting, I had many principals thank me for sharing OUR story and gave us kudos for the impressive work we are doing here. So, hats off to YOU, my awesome staff, for your work this year implementing the Gradual Release model. We still have a ways to go, but will do it TOGETHER!

Inspiration for Your Week
Kudos Korner from the Admin Team
Christine Hallick did a great job using the gradual release instructional model during an observed lesson this week!
It was really great to see students develop a composition and then play their music on the xylophone in Tiffany Rackley's room!
Kudos to the front office and paras who pick up and cover at a moment's notice when there are unexpected absences. You guys are amazing!
Media Center News
Dear Teachers,
The media center needs your help. Students coming to whole class checkout in the library are racing to be the first person to the sticks and running other people down. Please assign a student helper to hand out sticks to your class when they come, so the students will not hurt themselves or another person. Thanks!
Counselors' Corner
Congratulations to our Peer Leaders who will be attending a county wide leadership conference next Thursday!
Custodian Closet
Thank you for both your patience and assistance during the staffing shortage. I appreciate your help, it seems that we will still be short staffed next week.
The school has passed the Fire Marshal inspection, please remember to not move furniture that blocks the exit doors in your classroom. This includes the one that goes to your next door neighbor. Remember to have your students stack their chairs daily.
Also continue to have your student pour out all remaining liquids prior to placing their cartons in the trash. The county contacted me yesterday in regards to the number of tons we are producing and they believe that liquids is attributing to the high tonnage. Please continue to run water down your classroom sink to keep the line clear especially after pour milk and juice.

As you begin exploring the Claims, Evidence, Reasoning model in your classroom remember that children do not naturally support their claims with evidence and reasoning. This will require modeling, practice, and repetition.
