Irons Jr. High Newsletter
We Are Hawks!
As we prepare to wind down the first semester, I want to share how incredibly grateful I am for all of your efforts and hard work this year in making our first semester a success. From the challenges of remote learning to gearing up for in-person learning, the patience you have exhibited with our teachers and staff has been refreshing. Irons family, I can only say thank you!
Join me in welcoming Mrs. Mamie MillerPrejean as our new Assistant Principal at Irons Jr. High. Mrs. Prejean comes to us from Oak Ridge High School, where she served as Lead Counselor for the past ten years. We are incredibly excited to have her passion for student success and leadership at Irons Jr. high.
Semester exams will take place Dec 14-18 following the schedule below. All in-person learners should attend school daily to complete their exams. Only our remote learners, students who are ill or under quarantine, should take exams remotely.
Remote student semester exams will only be available on the same day that their scheduled class period will take the exam. Exams will open at 12:01 am and close at 11:59 pm each day. Please look at your student's schedule ahead of time and make plans accordingly. Students can find schedules in parent or student access center.
Class leveling will take place leading into the second semester. We will do our very best to keep students with the same teachers, but some students could end up with different core and elective teachers for the second semester.
Before your child returns for the second semester on Wednesday, January 6, please log in to parent or student access center to see your child's updated schedule. All students will report to their 1st-period class when we return on January 6, 2021.
For our parents whose children remain unsuccessful in the remote learning environment, I strongly encourage you to return your children to Irons Jr. High for in-person instruction. As an educator, I cannot sit by and allow students to remain unsuccessful in the remote learning environment. I am confident that with our COVID safeguards in place, all students will be as safe as possible from COVID-19. Please contact Irons if you would like more information about the safety procedures we have in place.
As we move into the Holidays, there will likely be many opportunities for students to gather outside of school with friends and loved ones. During this time, please express to your child the importance of taking precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks, frequently washing hands, and social distancing. We all must work together as partners to balance the need for social interaction and celebration with keeping our schools open to in-person learning. Our partnership is critical in order to keep students and staff safe and in school throughout the holiday season. Should your child test positive for COVID-19 over the Winter Break, we ask that you email Irons Jr. High at email@example.com so we can provide the appropriate support and make the required notifications.
Winter Break 12/19-1/5 students will return to school on Wednesday, January 6.
I wish everyone a safe and Happy Holidays!
