The two main characters of the story were Clay Jensen and Hannah Baker. Hannah Baker moved to Crestmont for Freshman year to have a fresh start, people ruined that for her they spread rumors about her, all of them were a lie.During her Junior year she had enough of all the rumors, she was planning to kill herself. First she decided to record her voice in 7 cassette tapes and described 13 people that caused her death. Clay Jensen didn't understand why he was on the tapes. Clay was nice to everyone, some people thought Clay didn't have any flaws. Hannah was the one that said he was perfect because he was never mean to anyone and never did anything bad. Both Hannah and Clay had a crush on each other. The only reason he was on the tapes was because Hannah wanted to say sorry.
Setting
This book takes place in various places in a small town named Crestmont. Clay would follow the map that came with the tapes. Whenever the tapes mentioned a place he would go see it most of the times. I think it took place in the present because when he received the tapes he didn't really have anything to listen to the tapes, so he borrowed a walkman from his friend.
