Feeling Thankful...

THANK YOU!...These two words have the power to transform our health, happiness, and success.

Research shows that grateful people are happier and more likely to maintain good friendships. It's actually physiologically impossible to be stressed and thankful at the same time. When you are grateful you flood your body and brain with emotions and endorphins that uplift and energize you rather than the stress hormones that drain you.

Gratitude is like a muscle. The more we do with it the stronger it gets. WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL TO BE A PART OF THIS AWESOME COMMUNITY!!!

We hope everyone has time to relax and reflect on all the blessings we've been given!

Holiday Health Guidelines

As we each look forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving Break, and spending time with loved ones, we wanted to provide an easy way for families to report any COVID-19 illness or exposure that occurs during the break. This information is imperative to ensure the safety of our students and staff members.

Please email:

dawn.baker@hayscisd.net

javier.solis@hayscisd.net

if you experience any of the following:

* Positive COVID-19 test results for any member of your household

* Suspected COVID-19 illness based on symptoms for any member of your household

* Close contact (being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes) with someone who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19

The email should include details regarding any illness or exposure, your student’s name(s) and grade(s), and contact information. Your timely report will allow administrators to meet and plan for a safe return to school for all students and staff members on the following Monday. While the COVID-19 pandemic has been stressful in many ways, we are so thankful to be able to have our students with us in person! We hope you have a restful holiday and look forward to having everyone back on Monday, November 30th.

JHS Theatre

Congratulations to the Johnson Jaguar Players and their hilarious performance last Saturday of Bad Auditions by Bad Actors. This Saturday the Johnson Jaguar Players will perform a beloved holiday classic, It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play for a limited and socially distanced audience, by invitation only. Both plays were directed by Theatre Director Kimberley Gates. Junior Ivy Clamons is Assistant Director for It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play and sophomore Jessica Constable was Stage Manager for Bad Auditions by Bad Actors. Both plays are being filmed and edited by Johnson's Media Arts department and will show on the big screen for the public and all of Johnson High School at Doc's Drive-In in Buda on Monday, December 14th. Ticket info to come.

It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play - This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. This play is unique because it is set in a 1940s radio station and the students create the sound effects live as "Foley Artists" using random things such as corn flakes, baking sheets, buckets of water, scrub brushes, jelly beans, an old baseball glove, etc.

Bad Auditions by Bad Actors - A casting director has one day to find the leads for a community theater production of Romeo and Juliet, but what seems like a simple task proves impossible when the pool of actors includes extreme method actors, performers who just don't know what to do with their hands, and one particular woman who may or may not think she's a cat. This hilarious comedy will bring you to the last place you'd ever want to be... behind the doors of a casting session.

YEARBOOK

Hello Jag family!

The staff of The Prowl, our JHS yearbook, are hard at work trying to capture all of the moments of this school year for in-person and virtual students alike. It is a year like no other, and we must be creative to cover everyone and everything.

Be sure to purchase your copy early and receive BIG DISCOUNTS with the early bird special! Go to yearbookordercenter.com and enter code 17955.

Parents: We have a fun and unique way of presenting the yearbook ads this year, and we would LOVE to include an ad from you, either honoring your Jag student or advertising your business. Please watch for future emails with information about pricing and submission of ads.

Students and Staff: (You may also purchase an ad!)

In light of the pandemic and in addition to school photographs taken by LifeTouch, we want to collect a "selfie" from every student and staff member.

Please try to capture a clear picture of yourself, head and shoulders only. The background should be free of clutter or distraction from the subject: YOU. Do not add props or other people; we just want a "selfie" that shows you. Be sure to include your first and last name as listed in the official school documents.

Share your pictures with us at HJESHARE.COM OR you may download the free ESHARE App at the App store or Google Play. The code for submitting pictures is 17955.

Any photos showing inappropriate things will not be used and may be subject to review by administration.

Thank you for helping us to remember this unusual school year in a beautiful yearbook!

Together we are BIA, Baby!
