Water Transition Begins on Monday
All City of Waukesha residents will undergo a transition to Lake Michigan water beginning on Monday, October 9th. Hillcrest School is connected to the city's water supply so we want to make you aware of the adjustments made here at school to make sure our water is clean and safe during the transition.
The main concern during the transition is clearing sediment. This sediment could change the color, taste and smell of water. Custodial staff has been instructed to flush water lines (run taps and flush toilets) until water is clear but occasional sediment will be possible throughout the week.
Aramark has adjusted lunch menus so water is not used to make meals across the district. On the 11th, students will be served meatball subs rather than spaghetti and meatballs. On the 12th, students will be served cheeseburgers rather than popcorn chicken bowls. Also, students will eat off of disposable trays during the week rather than trays that require washing.
You may have noticed the large water tower adjacent to Hillcrest's property. The city will need to drain this water tower beginning on Monday so there will be water on the pavement near the driveways and along the street. Some water may enter our parking lot but they do not anticipate water coming near the school building or the playground. Please take it slow on the way to school while the draining is taking place.
For more information on the water changeover and to see the live map of water flow, please go to https://waukesha-water.com/.
Fall Conferences
It is fall conference time. Our staff is looking forward to learning more about your child from YOU and they will share information about school progress so far this year.
Please find your child's teacher in the links below and sign up for a time that works for you. Conferences are 15 minutes long and there are enough slots for each child to have a conference with their homeroom teacher. Our conference formats have changed a bit from last year. We will have a picture retake day on October 17th. Any family wishing to have school pictures taken for their child will be able to have them taken during the school day on the 17th. Online ordering will be available in future newsletters. If any parents would like to help with this day, we could use a couple parents to help gather students who need their picture taken in the morning.
