Safety Blinkers
As you know, Webster CSD began the 2019-20 school year with new start times for all 11 schools. The district spent the last year communicating what this time change would mean for students and families and received invaluable feedback from our One Webster community regarding the shift.
As a response to your feedback and as an extra safety measure, the district is providing one safety blinker (enclosed in this envelope) for each elementary student to use as they wait for their morning bus. If your child loses the provided safety blinker, you may purchase an additional one from a variety of local retailers.
On those mornings when your child’s bus arrives before first light, please consider attaching the safety blinker to your child’s backpack (using either the blinker’s clip or velcro strap) to ensure that they can be easily seen by motorists, including their bus driver. You will need to remind your child to turn the blinker on with one touch of the button (the button may be pressed additional times for various blinking speeds). All students will be asked to turn the blinkers OFF once they are safely seated on the bus (their bus driver will also remind them as well).
Your support in directing your child on the appropriate use of their safety blinker is most appreciated.

News from the Art Room!
If you are looking for a fun way to start your afternoons I am looking for volunteers in the Klem South Art room. The kindergarten artists could use help from 11:45-12:30 and the First Grade artists from 1:20-2:05. If you know a week in advance that you are available for either of these time slots send me an email marybeth_vasalos@webstercsd.org. You can come in once, weekly, bi-weekly, anything that works for your schedule. Seeing the kids create is really special and together we can give the little artists even more fun experiences.
Square One art projects are being completed this month. Order forms will be coming home soon.
News from our Nurse!
Cold and damp weather is coming! That means the possibility for a wet and muddy playground. Packing extra clothes in your child’s book bag would be a great idea for these upcoming months…..just in case!
All new entrance students, K, 1st, 3rd and 5th grade students need physicals for the 2019-2020 school year. Physical exams dated 9/01/18 or later are appropriate. Please send a copy to the Health Office asap if you haven’t done so already. Fax #-217-4754. Thank You
News from our Literacy Team!
September 15 - October 15
The commemoration first began in the United States in 1968, and Webster is excited to honor and recognize the many meaningful contributions to our community and our nation that are made every day by Americans whose ancestors come from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America!
PTSA Welcome Run Fun!
From the Board of Education
ONE WEBSTER OFF TO A GREAT START!
The 2019-20 school year is off to a great start! There is so much going on throughout our district at each of our 11 schools. Be sure not to miss an event by following the district on social media: https://www.facebook.com/WebsterCentralSchools, https://twitter.com/WCSDProud, and Superintendent Gumina’s Twitter feed, https://twitter.com/superwebstercsd. Just this past week, Webster Schroeder High School performed the first musical of the year with amazing performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and we watched 700+ One Webster fourth graders enjoy the great outdoors along a mile course at North Ponds Park during the annual Fun Run. We can’t wait to see what the weeks ahead will bring. Welcome back, everyone!
48th ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZENS’ DAY - OCTOBER 24
The board is pleased to sponsor the 48th Annual Senior Citizens’ Day upcoming on Thursday, October 24. Invitations to senior citizens who live in the district will be mailed the first week of October.
