Please note that starting in January, our online menu will be changing again. If you have a printed copy of the menu, you will want to confirm that you have latest revision.

When packing your child's lunch, please remember to avoid packing candy, soda, and glass containers. We also ask that students not bring fast food in the cafeteria.


The cafeteria does offer snacks for the 2nd - 4th graders to purchase in addition to their lunch. Snacks cost between $1 - $1.05 depending on the item.


If you would like to monitor what your child is buying you CAN put restrictions on their account. Please call or email with those requests to stempleton@hse.k12.in.us.

A Message from the PE teacher!

It's that time of year again!! During the week of December 12th, students are invited to wear hats, scarves, gloves and/or festive attire to gym on their designated PE day. If you are new to Hoosier Road, the gymnasium will be transformed to a winter wonderland with ice skating and surprises.

Picture Retakes

We have scheduled picture retakes for

Preschool: 8:00am - 9:00am

If your child doesn't attend preschool on Thursday morning, you are encouraged to bring your student to have their picture retakes from 8:00 - 9:00am (our preschool teachers will bring their Thursday morning classes to the photographers to have retakes taken of those that need them). All of our preschool students will be in our school's yearbook, so it is important that they all have their picture taken even if you don't want to place an order.


KG - 4th starting around 8:00am

All Kg - 4th graders that are new to HRE or were absent on picture day will have their picture taken. If your child had their picture taken, but you would like to have them redone, please send the portrait package or proof with them on retake day to give to the photographer. If you do not have your child's proof and would like to have their picture retaken, please notify your child's teacher that you would like their picture taken as we will only send those students that are new or were absent to the photographer.


Please note that our photographers will only be here for a short time in the morning as we are not having the entire school photographed. If your child needs their picture taken, please be sure they are at school in the morning on the 15th. In order to have your child's picture in the yearbook, it is important that they have their picture taken and Thursday is the only scheduled retake day.

Holiday Light Recyling

Holiday Light Recyling

Starting on December 5th and going until January 13th, we will be collecting unwanted/unusable holiday lights. Technology Recyclers will come to pick up all the lights collected. Many of our teachers will use this event to teach their students about sustainability, electricity, conservation, math, and environmental science.

Hoosier Road Elementary is once again offering high quality yearbooks for sale to all of our families! The staff at HRE are in the process of designing our yearbook. If you would like to reserve a copy for your student, you may order online by clicking on the following link.

Our standard softcover yearbooks will cost $20 and our hardcover yearbooks are $25. You will also have the option to personalize the yearbook with your student's name for an additional $1. All orders must be placed online using a debit or credit card. We will not be accepting any paper order forms.


*All personalized yearbook orders must be placed no later than January 27, 2023. If you do not wish to personalize your child's yearbook, you may order now through March 10, 2023. These are firm deadlines.
