If your child chooses to participate, we have listed some important dates to remember.
January 10- an informational letter will be sent home.

Katy Advanced Program (KAP)
The Katy Advanced Program (KAP) provides students with an opportunity to engage in above-grade level coursework in the areas of math, science, language arts, and social studies. KAP courses are available beginning in 6th grade and are open to all students. Every student is encouraged to take at least one advanced level course in an area of interest.
The district recently hosted a KAP Awareness Night via Zoom, please take a moment to watch the replay located on the Katy ISD GT website. Should you have any questions, after viewing the online presentation, please feel free to submit your question to KelliLPrice@Katyisd.org.
Note from the Nurse
With flu season hitting early this year, the clinic staff wanted to provide the families of Exley Elementary with some important information regarding staying healthy during this flu season.
To prevent widespread flu in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from
school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. To decide whether to send your child to school,
please consider the following guidelines:
Keep your child at home for treatment and observation if he or she has any of these
symptoms:
- Fever‐ temperature 100°F and higher your child should stay home. May return when temperature is less than 100°F for at least 24 hours. This should be determined without the use of fever‐reducing medicines (any medicine that contains ibuprofen or acetaminophen).
- Vomiting (even once)
- Diarrhea
- Chills
- General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness, or muscle aches
- Frequent cough
- Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of nose
To help prevent the flu and other colds, teach your children good hygiene habits:
- Wash hands frequently
- Do not touch eyes, nose, or mouth
- Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing. Using a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash hands
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
It is recommended everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year.
Consult your family doctor for recommendations on which flu vaccine to get.

Express Book Stop will be closed Friday, Jan 20th & 27th
Lunch Visitors
Please note that KISD limits lunch visitors to parents/guardians/grandparents (with form on file), and younger non-school aged siblings. Form will be sent home the first day of school and will need to be returned to the front office. Grandparents will not be allowed to eat with your child unless this file is returned. We ask that parents limit their number of lunch visits to no more than one time per week. Lunch time is a time for students to socialize with their classmates and continue to build peer social skills. If you have a stroller, please put it in the designated stroller lot prior to entering the cafeteria. Videos and photos may not be taken during lunch as not all students at Exley are allowed to have photos taken. Please have ID when coming to the campus to eat lunch as you will need to have it to access the campus. Please leave through the front office when your child exits the cafeteria. Please do not follow the line back to your child’s classroom. We do only have one lunch visitor table, so space is limited. Per district guidelines, visitors are not allowed to sit at the classroom tables.
Homework and Deliveries
Deliveries for items left/forgotten at home are only made at 10am and 2pm. We ask that every
effort be made to send your child’s items, including lunch, with him/her every day. Items
include homework, lunches, backpacks and snacks. These may be dropped off to the cart in
the front foyer. Label the item with the child’s name, grade and teacher. Parents bringing in
lunch after 10am delivery will need to Raptor in and take the lunch down to the lunch table
outside the cafeteria. It is the responsibility of the child to pick up the lunch. Every effort must
be made to have lunches dropped off prior to the 10am delivery. Balloons, flowers, and other
things that cause distractions in the classroom will not be delivered.
Student ID Badges
The first ID Badge is free, and provided by your student's teacher
on the first day of school. Should there be a need to replace,
you can still purchase (for $3) with cash at the front office or
through PayNGo.
Birthday Treats
Per changes to district guidelines, no outside birthday treats (food, gift bags, flowers, balloons, etc.) can be brought in by students to be handed out to other students. Please do not send birthday treats to school with your student as they will not be handed out to other students. JEE will make your child’s birthday special by recognizing them on our morning announcements.
Things to Remember
- Doors open at 7:50
- Tardy bell rings at 8:10
- Students must be in the classroom by 8:10 in order to not be counted tardy
- Please stay in your car and let us unload your child at one of our drop off spots. Cars must stay in the right hand lane of our front drive. Please do not park in the front lot.
- If you need to check our child out early, you must come prior to 2:45 pm. Parents arriving after 2:45 pm will not be able to check their child out early. Please be sure to bring your ID when checking out your child.
