A Note From the Principal
Unfortunately, the germs are hitting Munson and we've had a lot of kids out sick. Please see the note below from our nurses, Mrs. Park and Mrs. K, for more details on symptoms to watch for and how to know when it's safe for kids to return to school.
We hope you're enjoying Zoey and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallows and all of our One School One Book activities! Thank you to all the teachers and staff that made our book reveal assembly such a success. Prezzy the Dragon said it was the best assembly he's ever attended!!!
Thank you,
Mathew Prezioso

One School One Book Family Literacy Night - March 14!
The event runs from 6-7:30pm. Doors will open at 5:30, so please plan on arriving early. This will allow time for you to check in, pick up your door prize, and go to the Book Fair. The 10 minute stations will start promptly at 6:05, but the Book Fair will be open at 5:30 and will run until 7:45.
Please park in the back lot behind the school or at the church across the street. Please do not park in the grass.
When you arrive, you will get a ticket for your door prize and your schedule for the evening. We have 7 stations and several hallway stations. We will run on a bell schedule. You can pick your door prize at any time during the evening.
Parents MUST stay with their children. There is no adult supervision provided. One of the stations is playing Kahoot, which requires the use of a smartphone.
We are looking forward to a fun evening! See you on March 14!
OSOB - The Fun Continues This Week!!
A Note From the Nurse
Over the last week we have been seeing an increase in gastrointestinal infections. Many children have been coming to the clinic complaining of stomach aches. Please keep your child home if he/she is complaining of a stomach ache that does not seem to subside and has associated symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramping or fever (fever not frequently associated, but still a possibility).
Like many viruses, stomach bugs are spread from person to person contact. Please make sure you are keeping your children home if they are sick. Encourage good and frequent handwashing.
"If your child is showing signs of a stomach bug, do not send them to school (or school sponsored activity) or day care." This is the take home message in a new CDC report, which found that nearly 90% of outbreaks of acute gastrointestinal infections in schools and child care settings result from person-to-person contact.
"Clinicians should encourage parents to keep children out of school for up to 24 hours after symptoms have subsided, as viral shedding may continue after symptoms stop," says Janine Cory, spokesperson for the CDC.
How can parents and guardians help prevent spreading?
-If your child is sick, keep them home from school or child care for 24-48 hours after vomiting and diarrhea have stopped.
-Make sure members of your household wash their hands often, especially after using the bathroom, cleaning, changing diapers, or before making or eating food.
-Ensure everyone is washing their hands properly: cover all parts of hands with soap, rub lathered hands together vigorously for 20 seconds at least, and thoroughly rinse with water.
-Do not share food or drinks with others if you have vomiting or diarrhea.
-Clean and disinfect surfaces and areas when someone vomits or has diarrhea.
-Immediately remove and machine wash and dry clothing and linens soiled by vomit or diarrhea.
We appreciate all of your help in keeping our children healthy and in school!
Sincerely, Mrs. Park and Mrs. K
