Safely Back Together Again

Thank you all to an amazing start to the third nine weeks! Our students and teachers are working hard to follow health and safety guidelines while engaging in learning opportunities!

With the recent events in our country, your child may have questions about some of the images they are seeing on the television and/or social media. Be sure to check out some of the resources in this newsletter to talk to your child about current events.

COVID-19 transmission in Shawnee County remains extremely high. We will continue to be diligent with the following safety precautions at school: 1) Temperature checks, 2) Six-feet of social distancing, 3) Facial masks, 4) Regular hand washing, and 5) Frequent disinfecting. It is important for students to follow these same precautions outside of the school day as well. A common goal we share is to have our students remain in school full-time. Thank you for sending your child masked up and with their water bottles; Please continue to partner with your grade level teachers to support focused learning.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream was a manifestation of hope that humanity might one day get out of its own way by finding the courage to realize that love and nonviolence are not indicators of weakness but gifts of significant strength.” ―Aberjhani, Illuminated Corners: Collected Essays and Articles Volume I

Family Engagement Night A Huge Success!

We had roughly 70% of our families attend our first ever Virtual Family Engagement Night. The evening was filled with fun! We read a snowman story, made a snowman, and then honed our science and math skills as we invented a trap for our snowman. Creativity and smiles were everywhere. Thank you to the Discovery Center of Kansas for their generation donation which helped us make this night possible for our families.

We are working on a video including all of the pictures that have been pouring in. We will be sure to share it with everyone as soon as it is ready. A random drawing was held for a gift card to a local restaurant. Winners were: Teagan and Berit Cessna, Ka'Liyah Alexander, and Bronx York. Winners will be contacted next week to pick up your gift cards.
