Pandemic EBT: Food Assistance Benefits
Families with children who received free, reduced-cost lunches at school qualify for new program.
The Pandemic Electronic Benefit Program (P-EBT) provides temporary funding to address emergency food needs for families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who qualifies?
Michigan families with students ages 5-18 who are eligible for free and reduced school meals and are enrolled in the Michigan Department of Education program.
Also eligible are students enrolled in Head Start and students over 18 receiving special education services and are currently enrolled in free/reduced school meals.
Students who are in a district where all students receive free school means no matter their eligibility.
How much do families receive?
The benefits will include $193.80 per eligible student to cover the months of March and April and an additional $182.40 per student to cover May and June combined.
How do families receive the benefits?
Families already receiving food assistance benefits will have the additional funds directly added to their Bridge Card.
Families not currently receiving food assistance benefits will receive a pre-loaded EBT card under the name of the oldest eligible child in the home.
Benefits for all eligible school-aged children in the home will be loaded onto this ONE EBT card.
A letter from MDHHS will be mailed out prior to mailing of the EBT cards and will include instructions
March and April benefits should arrive by the end of the first week of May.
