What's New?
Getting to know St. Mary's Field Trip
Yesterday, our team enjoyed exploring our own hometown. We wandered the cemetery and found graves dating back to the Revolutionary war. We saw two historic churches and the minister at the Methodist church told us the history of its beginnings. Students got to see the beautiful Orange Hall and heard about its history. If you have not been there, it is lovely. We had a relaxing picnic in the park and then explored the Cumberland Island and submarine museums. It was a full and fun day! The kids were great!!
Shark Tank BLASt
We will be spending all day on Wednesday working on our BLASt projects. This week, the focus is on marketing their product. They will be creating a print advertisement and a television commercial. They will be using their chrome books to film their commercials. Shark tank presentations will be held in classrooms on May 17. Final judging of the top 8 will be held in front of the whole team on Thursday, May 19. Times to be announced.
8th grade Hollywood Nights Dance
Please encourage your child to attend the 8th grade dance on Friday, May 6th from 6-8 PM. This is a really fun event. Where else can your students see their crazy teachers dancing? And when else will the teachers see the students looking so spiffy? It is great to see all the 8th grade students in one place celebrating their middle school years!

Math classes will be working on the financial piece of their Blast business plan and solving inequalities. Students will be looking at cost of operations (including -materials, manufacturing, labor, rent, utilities, etc.), do a cost-benefit analysis, and plan their request for funds from the “sharks”.
