Career Technical Education at EPHS
Why Students Enroll in CTE courses
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies and making academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context. Visit www.eaglepnt.k12.or.us/ephs for a current list of CTE classes offered through EPHS.
CTE classes are offered in the following fields: Agriculture, Manufacturing, Auto Shop, and
Business/Computer/Communications Technology. Within these categories, students can participate in a wide range of educational experiences. Many CTE classes have a clear path to a career in a related field, post-graduation.
EPHS students enroll in CTE classes for a wide range of reasons with many benefits. EPSD9 recently conducted a few student interviews in a couple CTE classes to gather their perspective regarding why these classes are of interest.
Robotics Engineering
Madison is a senior taking Robotics Engineering for the first time. Madison was very interested in the class and wanted to explore engineering. She plans on staying in engineering classes all year and really enjoys how the class challenges her. Madison intends to join the military post-graduation. This class gives her an opportunity to gain some related experiences and education. She hopes to further her education in a similar field when she joins.
Benjamin and Lucas are in Robotics Engineering class for the first time this year. Both students are sophomores and are very interested in the building side of robotics. One of the elements of the class is to build and operate your own functioning robot! Once completed, each team competes by driving their robot through a course with specific obstacles and actions for the robot to execute. Their team has won both rounds of competition thus far!
Veterinary Science
Vet Medicine and Animal Anatomy classes offer onsite learning lessons for students to expand their knowledge about the agriculture industry. One recent experience included using an ultrasound machine to determine the pregnancy of cows.
One student shared, “I was totally nervous to do this. I didn’t think I was going to but I'm glad I did though. I believe it’s important to try something different, you never know if you’ll end up liking it.”

Tanyon is in graphic design as well and really enjoys the fun and comfortable environment. He said, “I really like the creating element of the class. I enjoy doing game design and coding, and this would be great for designing a cover and other publications. I really like being in Mr. Morgan's class and learning how to design and have fun.”
Audio/Visual Productions
Jessey, is a sophomore at EPHS and joined the Audio/Visual Production class because he had an interest in video photography. Allen has taken a culinary class since his freshman year. Allen is passionate about cooking and he has always loved his time in the kitchen. He said, “I've done it for as long as I can remember. Allen plans to stay enrolled in culinary classes until he graduates. Even though he doesn't plan on establishing a career in culinary post-graduation, it will always be a part of his life. Allen said, “For me, the class is very personal. I love being able to cook for my friends and family. If you’re new to it, don't be afraid to try it. I used to be really bad at cooking, and now look. Just stick with it."
