August 28-September 2

Reading: Schema

We will be working on /p/, /l/, /o/, and /b/ sounds. We will also be working on initial and final consonant sounds. Our reading strategy this week will be learning to reread a story to see more details and making our voices sound smooth when we read.

Math

This week we will be doing number talks - using a picture we ask students what they see. We will be learning how to solve a word problem with a missing addend in our math lessons. We will also be learning to count on from a given number. We will be doing counting collections - students are given a group of objects to count and sort.

Writing

In writing workshop students will write about a small moment in their life. We teach students how to freeze and unfreeze characters. We will also learn to tell stories in Itsy Bitsy steps.

Science

We will be discussing and conducting different experiments involving the behavior of light.

Note from the Teacher

Please send in an old sock (one that may not have a pair) that is clean. We will be using these as erasers for our dry erase boards.


If your child is involved in extra-curricular activities please send me his/her schedule. I do my very best to attend at least one event during the year.
