New principal named
A message from the Superintendent
March 1, 2019
Dear Edgewood community,
I am pleased to announce a new principal has been selected for Edgewood Middle School. Rob Reetz, Chippewa Middle School’s current principal, will succeed Penny Howard, who recently announced that she will retire at the end of this school year.
Rob is uniquely positioned to lead Edgewood Middle School. He is an exceptionally talented principal and instructional leader who has served Mounds View Public Schools for 11 years. For the past four years, Rob has led Chippewa Middle School demonstrating great care for the academic, social and emotional growth of its students. Prior to joining Chippewa, he led all District professional development as a professional learning specialist. Rob previously spent six years as an instructional strategies facilitator and special education teacher at Irondale High School. Most notably, he played a key role in implementing the successful and innovative Early College programming in our high schools.
Rob holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from University of Minnesota – Duluth, a master’s degree in special education from Augsburg College and an education specialist degree in leadership, policy and administration from University of St. Thomas. He lives in Mendota Heights with his wife Liz and their daughters Grace (10) and Mae (7).
I know Rob is extremely excited to be joining Edgewood, and will introduce himself to your school community later this spring. In the meantime, the Edgewood community will have opportunities in the coming months to say goodbye to Penny Howard and to thank her for her exceptional service. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Christopher.lennox@moundsviewschools.org or 651-621-6001.
