TCE Times:
April 2021
Tiffany Creek Elementary Monthly Newsletter
I hope the Spring weather is allowing you to get outdoors with your family to enjoy your favorite activities together. If you are able, check out some local outdoor spaces including Hoffman Hills, Woodland Park, and the Red Cedar Trail for some local fun.
Here at TCE, we are progressing steadily through our standards and curriculum to make sure students are finishing the year strong. Please continue to check your child's planner, initiate discussions about their day, help them with homework, and encourage your child to read AT LEAST 20 minutes per night to keep them moving forward.
We are also preparing class lists in preparation for next year. Parents and guardians will receive their child's 2021-2022 classroom teacher in June, along with their Trimester 3 report card. Classroom placement goes through a three-step collaborative process with our general education, special education and administrative staff to make sure students are placed in the most appropriate learning environment based on academic, social emotional, and support needs of ALL students. We will not be doing family requests this year; thank you for your understanding. Please remember all class lists are subject to change depending on new student enrollments and student learning needs and supports.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. Have a wonderful April!
In Partnership,
Dee Thompson
TCE Principal
TCE Spotlight Teachers:
Joan Klassen and Jacob Peterson--5th grade
Joan Klassen has been teaching at Tiffany Creek Elementary for the past 30 years, mostly in the first and fifth grades. She believes that students learn best in a positive and “fun” environment where students feel excited to come to school. Having taught for over three decades, she is finding extra enjoyment teaching former students’ children!!!!
Joan lives with her husband, Dave, and their three dogs. Their son, Zach, and daughter, Lauren, are both graduates of Boyceville Community School District, 2013 and 2015 respectfully. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, swimming and playing board games. She is thankful to be part of a great community and school district.
HI, I'm Jacob Peterson! I have been happy to have been a part of this amazing educational staff for the past 6 years. I enjoy teaching at the 5th grade level, especially in the subject areas of Math and Science. Outside of school, my wife, Jenna, and I enjoy spending time outside and seeking new adventures. We recently moved into the Boyceville school district and have been making progress on plenty of house projects. In between house projects we enjoy taking our dogs for a run, tending to our garden or paddling down a river. Besides teaching at Boyceville, I have gotten involved in leading some extracurricular activities as well, including coaching Cross Country, Basketball and Track. In the summer months Mr. Day and I lead a program called Bulldog Adventures, a team building and outdoor adventure class. Between teaching and after school activities, I am excited to work with the children of Boyceville. Thank you for being a supportive and positive community for their education!
6th Grade-Rochelle Olson & Kim Webb
Hello! I'm Kim Webb, and I teach 6th grade science and language arts. This is my 26th year of teaching in Boyceville. I really enjoy watching the progress and growth of our 6th grade students throughout the year before they move on to middle school. My husband, Rod, is a county land conservationist, and he also raises beef, corn, and soybeans with his brother on their family’s Century Farm. We have three boys – Kyle (26, a MS/HS science and agriculture teacher in Plum City), Nick (24, an IT System Administrator), and Luke (17). Our “extended family” also includes our black lab (Oliver) and two cats (Chuck and Jerry). We enjoy watching our son’s athletic events, fishing, hunting, and spending time up north as a family. I also enjoy reading, traveling, going to concerts, watching collegiate athletics, mowing my lawn, and helping my parents.
Jeff Hoff-Special Education
Hanna Downer-Carlson-Special Education & Lisa Kane--Paraprofessional
I am Miss Downer-Carlson, a special education teacher at TCE. When I am not in the classroom I am outdoors hiking, camping in the Boundary Waters, or visiting my family in Minnesota. My favorite outdoor activity is running. My favorite food is pickles. My favorite animal is a dog, especially Golden Retrievers. My favorite season is fall, because I get to start teaching again after the long summer. I have been teaching at TCE for 2 years.
Lisa McDonald-Paraprofessional
Hi everyone! My name is Lisa McDonald. Our family moved to Boyceville in 1987 from Minnesota and have lived in Boyceville until last summer when I moved to Woodville. I have three children: Matt, Kate, and Heidi (Andy). My dog, Monty, is a good companion and keeps me laughing! Hobbies are important in everyone’s life….my hobbies are knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, reading, gardening, and I love to attend auctions and garage sales when they are available. I have been working at TCE for 24 years and very proud of our TCE family. I learn something new every day. Each day is full of surprises and I’m looking forward to new adventures ahead!!
What's Happening Around Tiffany Creek?
From the Reading Guru (Mrs. Sweeney) and the Reading Rockstar (Ms. Bignell)
Reading Is Our Thing ~ Reading Week 2021
Reading was our thing during our 22nd annual Reading Week celebration! We had a blast safely celebrating our love of literacy March 1-5th. Covid 19 may have changed the way we do some things, but it certainly didn’t steal the show.
Instead of inviting family/community members/authors into the building to read to students, we did it virtually. This was an amazing way to tap into our guests from afar and also those who were able to Zoom in from home or work for a quick story. Our participation was incredible. Zooming was our thing!
We were not able to treat our families to Reading and Rolls, however, we still enjoyed the sweet treat and reading time in our own classrooms. Baked goods and books were our thing!
Although our assemblies were virtual, they were virtually impossible to top. Ms. Thompson and Mrs. Sweeney were treated to make-overs by our top reading classroom teachers, Mrs. Hellmann and Mrs. Klaustermier. They looked stunning during pick up in the front lot after school. Contests and contouring were our thing!
Reading Week fun facts were our thing!
The Read-A-Thon was VERY successful!! We raised $6,319.86 that will help us buy books for our Guided Reading Libraries! (That is an ALL time high!)
Tiffany Creek students read 245,282 minutes during Reading Week!!
Classroom doors were adorned with all kinds of “Things”. Including Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Our dress up days were a hit. Such a wacky group of sleepy readers!
Thank you for supporting your child in literacy. We can’t wait to celebrate again next year!

Are you looking for ways to connect with your children, while helping them grow as individuals and learners? Love and Logic may be the program that fits your needs! Love and Logic is a program that provides practical tools and techniques to parents, educators, and other child care professionals that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children. Love and Logic has been around for over 40 years, is research backed, and provides resources for children from 0-18. You can check out their website at https://www.loveandlogic.com/. On their website you will find tons of free resources on many different topics that can help with your children. If the information seems valuable, they do have online classes and seminars that you can sign up for with varying levels of financial obligation. Some of our teachers here at Tiffany Creek have participated in some of these workshops and conferences, and only have amazing things to say. This is a program that can really start to make a difference in the relationship between you and your child. If this is something you would be interested in learning more about feel free to reach out to Mr. Pitt or Mrs. Hellman. Both would love to help you by answering any questions you may have!

Day-to-Day Reminders:
Covid-19 Reminders:
- Masks should be laundered regularly to ensure they are clean each day...just like our socks and underwear!
- See the office staff if you are in need of a new mask (s).
- If you are traveling and would like a covid-19 symptom tracker to use at home, please contact the school nurse or call the office to have one sent home with your child.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
- Please refrain from using your cell phone once the pick-up line has started moving. We want to make sure all eyes and ears on our students during this time.
- Double check for traffic behind you when driving away; there have been some "too close for comfort" situations lately.
Thank you for continuing to make this a successful year for those students being picked-up and dropped off!
No School April 1, 2, and 5! Enjoy your time off.
