Thankful For Our Community

I wanted to take a moment to let you all know that I am so thankful to get to work with and in such a great community! Patterson is a great place to learn and grow because of each of you and your children. I hope that this weekend you get the opportunity to rest, reflect, and spend time with loved ones.

Important Dates:

  • 11/25: Spirit Day, Crazy Hair Day
  • 11/26: No School, Thanksgiving
  • 11/27: No School

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out: lentzj@hsd.k12.or.us.

YALA

HSD has partnered with the Hillsboro Public Library to provide students with a Youth Access Library Account! This means that HSD students can pair their YALA login to Sora to access eBooks from the Washington County Cooperative Library System (WCCLS).

Also included in YALA: Access to online tutoring and databases!

Library Card vs. YALA:

The YALA does not come with a physical card. It can be used to access ebooks on Sora or to check out 5 books or audiobooks in person at WCCLS library locations. Note: YALA is only for books and audiobooks. If students want to check out additional books or other library items such as DVDs, video games, etc, they must sign up for a full-access library card by contacting a WCCLS library.

  • If students already have a library card from WCCLS, they were not issued a YALA. To sync a library card to Sora, use the barcode number on your library card.

  • If families opted out of sharing directory information, students were not issued a YALA. They may sign up for a library card by contacting a WCCLS library.

For further information about YALA, contact your teacher or Mrs. Lewis.

Kindness Challenge of the Day

Our morning announcements include a kindness challenge for students, staff and families! Those that complete the challenge can enter it here and receive a shout-out on the announcements.

Parent Support - Office Hour

Each Friday, Mrs. Cary our Student Success Coach, will be hosting WEEKLY drop-in office hours for Caregivers at 1pm. This is a good place for parents/caregivers who may have questions about parenting through distance learning, mental health or behavior concerns, or those just wanting more guidance and reassurance about how to meet their children's needs during these difficult times, to bring questions and get ideas.

Attendance Reminders

Attendance in CDL has meant quite a few shifts from our former practice, however our process for calling the attendance line when your child is sick remains the same. If your child does not or will not attend any synchronous (live) or asynchronous (google classroom) on a school day, please call our attendance line at: 503-844-1385. This ensures your child's attendance is reported accurately.

Food Pantry

Our food pantry continues to be available to serve our families in need. Please reach out to Mrs. Awad if you need assistance: awada@hsd.k12.or.us.

Campuses Still Closed

Currently our campuses are still closed to the public. New district signs have been placed to replace previous ones.
