Google Meets Tips and Suggestions

Having Google Meet Issues?

Is your child having trouble staying in a Goolge Meet? Are they losing connectivity? Getting dropped from the meet? Is there a lot of lag time and too much feed back? This is not uncommon. Students can have a better Google Meet session if they do the following:

  • Keep only one or two tabs open
  • Do not share wifi with someone who is streaming a lot of content
  • Do not have other applications open
  • Do not stream music or videos during your session

Check out the following for even more tips!

Who and What are the Tiger Techs?

Tiger Techs participate in the hands on study of technology integration in an educational context. Students are required to assess problem sets throughout the day and define the best approach to addressing or solving the problem. In addition to solving problems for students and teachers, students are required to complete and maintain several running projects that address problems or solutions in educational technology integration. Tiger Techs are provided with the opportunity to pursue an independent learning pathway in one of four areas: innovation, design, entrepreneurship, or applications and develop a project which positively impacts their community. Students will be able to collaborate with outside businesses and organizations as they develop and implement their projects.

Each new S'More will introduce you to some of Tiger Techs. They will share some tech information, tips, and tricks!

FDR Will Transition to Using Canvas as a Learning Management System

What is Canvas?

Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used by learning institutions, educators, and students to access and manage online course learning materials and communicate about skill development and learning achievement.

Canvas includes a variety of customizable course creation and management tools, course and user analytics and statistics, and internal communication tools.

Your child's teachers will transition from Google Classroom to Canvas over the next two marking periods. Your child's teacher will guide your child and show them how to use and access Canvas.

We at FDR will provide support for teachers, students , and parents, to ensure that all are informed and able to access Canvas.

BTSD Secondary Schools will use Canvas to help support students manage their online and in person learning. It will eventually replace our Google Classrooms. It provides for more organized manner of connecting with students. It is also used by many colleges, universities, and institutions. Please watch this introduction to Canvas for Parents video for more information:

Student Information

1- Make sure students are going to the Bristol Canvas site: https://btsd.instructure.com/login/canvas

2- It says that your username is your email

3-If your Google password does not work- select Forgot password

Teachers must make the course live/publish for students to see them in their dashboard.
