SPRING SPORTS & OHA GUIDANCE
We are very fortunate that student-athletes throughout Oregon have been allowed the opportunity to participate in sports this year. In order for our student-athletes to continue practicing and competing we, student-athletes and spectators must follow the requirements set out in guidance from the OSAA and OHA.
One issue that continues to come up is that some spectators are not wearing face coverings, or not wearing face coverings properly. Face coverings must be worn properly (covering the nose and mouth) at all times when on MASD property. MASD did not create these requirements, but we must follow them in order for athletic events to take place.
Every athletic event must have a COVID-19 monitor present to ensure OSAA and OHA requirements are being met. If a spectator is not wearing their face covering properly or not at all, the COVID-19 monitor will:
politely ask them to put their face covering on properly.
If they refuse, they will be asked to leave.
If they refuse to leave, the activity will be cancelled.
Again, these are not our rules or requirements. We must follow them to ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and spectators.
