Third & Fourth Week of Advent
Each week of Advent we will be calling on our OLA community to donate much needed items for our vulnerable brothers and sisters - and we will have some fun doing it.
Dec. 13 - 21 - Warm Hands, Warm Hearts
Heading into the darkest days of the winter, before the day of bright light (Christ's birth - December 25th) we are calling our OLA community to keep warm our brothers and sisters at Hope Mission who are less fortunate, by placing hats, mitts, hot pockets, scarves, and gently used clothing and outerwear for adults at the base of the Christmas trees at OLA.
You made a difference!
Thank you to everyone who brought in socks for the Hope Mission and congratulations to the students who landed their socks in the basket during their class' Sock Toss!
Thank you to each family member who donated items for our brothers and sisters in Fort Saskatchewan who are in need to accessing the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank. Your donations will warm many hearts this Christmas! Thank you for answering the "Call to More!"
Coming to you Soon!
Winners of the VIP Advent Viewing Packages will receive advanced viewing privileges!! Donate to Lurana House and get your tickets today!
Advent Celebration & VIP Viewing Packages: Ends @ 9:00am Wednesday Dec. 15!
EICS is partnered with Lurana House through Catholic Social Services to care for homeless mothers of young children. Women and their children often arrive at Lurana House fleeing from challenging situations and they bring very little with them. This year's goal is to provide these women and children with a "Basket of Blessings" when they arrive at Lurana House, complete with clothing, personal hygiene supplies and many other essential items. Each $100 raised for Lurana House will provide a "Basket of Blessings" to each mother and their children who enter Lurana House.
OLA will be inviting you to participate in a fundraiser for Lurana House. Our fundraising goal is $400 which equates to the purchase of four "Baskets of Blessings."
To make this fundraising activity just a little more fun, and to add a little incentive....when you donate through OLA's VIP Viewing Package Fundraiser for Lurana House, you will receive a chance (or many more!!) to receive a VIP Advent Celebration Viewing Package complete with advanced viewing privileges and abundant goodies to enjoy at home with your family to make the Advent Concert Viewing Experience spectacular!
The more you donate, the more opportunities you have to receive a VIP viewing package...and the more you will spread joy, hope and blessings to mothers and babies in need.
All donations for Lurana House and completed VIP Viewing Package tickets
are due before 9:00am on Wednesday, December 15th
We will be making the draw that morning during Virtual Morning Announcements.
If you wish to donate directly to Lurana House & Catholic Social Services for a tax receipt, simply share with us a copy of the receipt, and these donations will count too. You will have equal opportunity for the VIP Viewing Packages!
More information coming home this week! Stay Tuned!
Want to donate items to the VIP viewing packages?
If you or your business would like to donate to the VIP Viewing packages, please email ola@eics.ab.ca with details of your donation - Thank you in advance for your generosity!!!

WELCOME! WELCOME!
This Week @ OLA
Advent continues on Sunday December 12th, and we light the third, and pink candle, candle in the Advent wreath of Joy. Each afternoon we will celebrate the Story of Jesus coming to earth. Did you know that God's plan for Jesus' birth actually began with the story of creation? We will explore how God planned Jesus' birth from the very beginning through the Jesse Tree and the virtual daily prayers that will occur each day from OLA's Chapel.
Each day at 12:30pm you are invited to join. Please click here for the Google Meet Link. We will accept guests into the google meet up to the time we begin as not to interrupt prayers.

Outside Play! Polar Bear Recess!
Thank you for continuing to help your children enjoy winter fun by making sure they have the right gear to play outside!
Outdoor play and fresh air are so important for a child's development, and it is especially important during the winter months. As such, children will be outside every day for recesses until the temperature or Windchill reaches -25C as outlined in our Inclement Weather policy linked here. Below are a few tips to help kids have loads of fun in the snow!
Back By Popular Demand: Polar Bear Recess!
On days when children have indoor recess each recess in the morning and at lunch, the afternoon recess will become a Polar Bear Recess! What's a Polar Bear Recess? All those children who are well dressed and want to go outside (there are usually a big bunch of them!) we will head out outside with one of our Polar Bear Supervisors and together they will play in the snow for a short recess. All those who wish to stay indoors during Polar Bear recess will have that choice to continue playing indoors.

Four Days For Your Voice!
As part of our ongoing open engagement with our EICS community, we invite you to participate in developing our EICS 2022-2026 Division Education Assurance Plan.
In Alberta, school boards are responsible for providing assurance to their stakeholders that they are fulfilling their responsibilities, meeting the needs of students and enabling their success. The key to building public assurance is engaging with our education partners in the Division’s planning and reporting cycle. The parent, student, staff and EICS community voice is integral to building this plan and helps create a culture of continuous improvement.
EICS will be engaging with our communities beginning December 1, 2021 through the ThoughtExchange online engagement process. It is a very easy and open thought process with only two questions to prompt discussion, collect input and a starring process to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.
Your voice will help to shape OLA and EICS' future!
Thank you for participating!
To participate in the ThoughtExchange, please click on the following link: https://my.thoughtexchange.com/scroll/625525170/welcome
The exchange will close on December 15th and will be starting point for the ongoing analysis by the EICS Board of Trustees and EICS leadership in creating the 2022-2026 Division Education Assurance plan.
Many thanks for your time and interest in EICS.
