A Little Biography On Coco Chanel

Gabrielle Bonhuer Chanel a.k.a. Coco Chanel is one of the best known fashion icons of the early 1900s. Born on August 19,1883 in Saumur, France she was one out of 7 kids or Sept in French, later she founded the Chanel brand, before she died on January 10, 1971. She enhanced the fashion world. To say the least.

Early Life

Little Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel lived in an orphanage most of her life as her father freaked out over Coco's mother's death. After living at the orphanage for the first couple of years, the orphanage nuns taught her how to sew. This became useful as she opened her first clothing shop in 1910. She then introduced the little black dress and the Chanel suit which made clothing more comfortable for women as then it became popular in the American 1920s.

The Chanel Suit

This is one of the more recent Chanel suits which became popular in the 1920s and was introduced originally in France and became very popular in Europe before making a debut across seas.
