End Of Course Exams
This week, students will be taking:
STAAR English I End-of-Course (EOC) Exam on Tuesday, March 28
STAAR English II End-of-Course (EOC) Exam on Thursday, March 30
Successfully completing EOC exams is a graduation requirement. Please know that our students and teachers have been working hard in class to prepare for these exams. We are proud of their accomplishments and the progress they have made this year.
Here are some things to consider as we prepare for testing days:
- Please make sure your child gets a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day of the test
- It is very important for students to be in attendance on the day of the test. Please ensure your child is in attendance and refrain from scheduling appointments on testing days.
- Students will eat lunch in the classroom during a break in the test session. They will have an opportunity to order a lunch from the cafeteria or may bring a lunch from home. Students cannot have lunch delivered to the office on testing days.
- Cell phones, E-books, and related electronic devices may not be powered-on or used at any time during the testing session. Please know that we cannot be held responsible for electronics during an exam, so it is best if students leave their devices at home.
- Students may bring a regular book, or check one out of our library the day before the test, if they wish to read after the test.
Please join us by encouraging your child to do his or her best on EOC exams.

AVID Information
AVID applications for the 2017-2018 school year are now available for Freshman and Sophomores! During the AVID Elective class, students learn how to take notes, test-taking strategies, time management and proper study skills. Students explore college and career options while working with WICOR strategies (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading). All AVID students maintain the AVID binder, which holds all of their materials from all of their classes. Field trips to colleges start in the freshman year and continue throughout the program. In the junior year, students prepare for the SAT and ACT in the classroom and begin filling out college applications. The senior year helps students apply for college and scholarships as well as introduces them to college like assignments and activities.
You can pick up an AVID Application in the College and Career Center today.
Please contact Mrs. Pair at spair@bisdmail.net or Ms. Riley at brittany.riley@bisdmail.net if you have any questions.
