English
This week students will be revising their arguments and giving some peer feedback. We will work on giving positive, productive feedback to students in our class and in our partner class in East Lansing.
We continue our grammar study with mentor sentences and our vocabulary study with root words. Students are encouraged to read independently at home.
Math
This past week students took the Chapter 5 test and started chapter 6. They primarily worked on converting units of length within the U.S. Customary Unit system and Metric system. Students learned how to use conversion factors and they also learned a unique way to convert metric units. They had two homework assignments that are due on Monday. They are page 313(1-11) and page 319 (2-14)/ & page 320(1-6).
Looking ahead, this week students will continue to work with units of measure. They will focus on units of capacity (for example: gallons, quarts, pints, cups, liters, kiloliters, milliliters, etc.). Students will also practice converting units of weight and mass (for example: tons, pounds, ounces, grams, kilograms, and milligrams). Students may take the Chapter 5 retake on Thursday, February 15th.
Students will have a mid chapter quiz this Friday, February 16th or Monday, February 19th.
