Here is another FREE option for connecting with your CCR students around social emotional learning values
The activities in 180 Connections are designed to digitally build a bridge of connection between teachers and students and, if possible, students with each other.
180 Connections provides you with one personal connection activity for 180 days of the school year.
There are three tasks provided for each connection activity:
Information: Teachers share details about themselves to build connections with their students.
Illustration: Teachers share pictures, videos, samples or quotes that amplify that information and that connection.
Interaction: Students engage in exercises that build connections with their teacher and each other.

A little humor provided by Mrs. Bowerman...
Grading Reminders from this week's staff meeting
As we wind down this quarter, and with our new end date of May 15th, we want to be focused on how our final grading practices will play out.
Consider that we have two more weeks of instruction, followed by a week of bonus time--make up work, enrichment time, extra credit, re-do opportunities, and team-building fun.
Last day of instruction (official District date)--May 15th.
All grades due on IC (official District time/date)--May 18th by 3 pm.
Plan your work so that you do not have to do any grading on the weekend of May 15th. You will have the entire day on May 18th for grading and entering final grades.
You will need to manually change Ds and Fs to P-Pass in the final grade (when the grading window opens). You can also choose to change any letter grades--even if it doesn't match with the percentage...for example, if you have a student sitting at a 78% but you feel he/she should earn a B, you can change that manually.
For students who have done some work this quarter, they should receive a letter grade (C, B, A). For students who haven't logged in at all during quarter 4, they will receive a P.
This is not the time to fight grading battles or rely on "typical" principles of grading practice. Students should earn a grade that is commensurate with their grades in previous quarters.
For example, for a student who has participated in at least some remote learning, if he/she earned C quarter one, B quarter two, B quarter three...then his/her quarter 4 grade should be a B or higher (this is relying on body of evidence rather than strictly work ethic during remote learning time).
When in doubt, round up.
If you have a student with a major regression in grades (a student who normally earns a B is now at a C or below), then we need to talk through the final grade together before it is posted. Please reach out to support team members--other teachers, case managers, counselors, admin in order to talk through this.
If you have students who have been "attending" but not doing any work, please reach out to their parents--phone call is best. Let them know what the "short list" of mandatory assignments might be for their student to earn a C or better.
Lastly, consider avoiding zeroes and M--missing in these last few weeks. Anxiety is high for all--parents and students included. If a student has not turned something in, leave it blank, and reach out to the student and parent.

Tri-Cities Response
Organizations and churches across Englewood, Littleton, and Sheridan have banded together to love our neighbors by meeting their needs. If you are elderly, or have lung disease, heart disease or compromised immune systems, then you are particularly susceptible to negative outcomes from Covid-19. We want to help keep you safe by delivering groceries or providing other critical resources.
VOLUNTEERING EFFORTS
1. You can donate blood by scheduling with Vitalant.org.
2. Help locally by donating grocery gift cards or volunteering to shop/deliver food for shut ins with www.littletonfamilyservices.org.
3. You can support other efforts in your neighborhood by signing up at helpcoloradonow.org. They list all sorts of ways to support those in need throughout our metro area and state.
ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES
This can be a stressful and scary time for everyone. Feeling prepared and knowing what you can do to help you and your family stay well are some ways to help minimize stress. This resource for parents/caregivers provides ways for families to prepare as well as how to help children from different age groups cope with what is going on. If you think you are having symptoms of COVID-19, please follow these guidelines from CDC. These resources from Tri-County health can also help you stay informed and reduce the risk of spreading or catching COVID-19. Additional mental health and food resources can be accessed here.
As a reminder, Safe2Tell is a resource students can access right away if they have worries or concerns about themselves or a friend.
