Lead Learner Update
February 9, 2024
Good Day Family (Us),
Early Bird Enrollment
Mark your calendars now! Dublin City Schools’ 2024-2025 Open Enrollment will be kicking off on Saturday, March 2nd from 8:00 AM - NOON at the Irish Gifted Academy Middle Grades Gym. Our Early Bird Enrollment will provide families with the opportunity to register their child (Pre-K through 12th Grade) without having to take off work. Then, we’ll begin our traditional in-person enrollment at Central Registration starting on Monday, March 4th.
Providing families with #ThePowerOfChoice, we offer an all-day gifted program, themed elementary schools, high school course credits at the middle school, the only International Baccalaureate program between Macon and Savannah, dual enrollment opportunities, and a school-within-a-school College and Career Academy committed to preparing today’s students for their tomorrow. Recognizing that top districts have top leaders, we’re also proud to have Dr. Fred Williams, Georgia’s 2024 Superintendent of the Year and a finalist for National Superintendent of the Year, as our Lead Learner!
Come discover how your family can be part of our world-class charter school system
IGA's Applications Available Now-March 15th
Here in Dublin City Schools, we pride ourselves on providing families with #ThePowerOfChoice. A shift from the traditional pull-out model of providing gifted services, the Irish Gifted Academy began in 2019 and serves children in an all-day PROGRAM that is technology-rich with a project-based curriculum and a house system based on the Rock Clark Academy. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are open NOW - Friday, March 15th.
Mr. Taylor, IGA’s Principal, has created this short video to explain the process. A few important points he mentions are:
- If you have a rising Pre-K student, please do NOT complete an IGA application. Instead, your family will complete the traditional Pre-K application, which opens during Dublin City Schools' Early Bird Enrollment on Saturday, March 2nd.
- If you have a rising Kindergartener, your family will complete the application in its entirety minus the student questionnaire found on page 6.
- If you have a rising 1st - 8th Grader, your family will complete all components of the application.
- A helpful checklist to ensure the application is completed in its entirety is located on page 4 of the packet.
- Applications can be hand delivered or mailed to the Irish Gifted Academy, Attn: Debra Register at 1951 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021. They can also be emailed to debra.register@dcsirish.com.
- If you have any questions about the IGA, please email matt.taylor@dcsirish.com.
And, if you would like for your child to attend one of our five SCHOOLS for 2024-2025, mark your calendars.

Lea Jarriel Named Dublin High School's STAR Student
Principal Overstreet recently stopped by Lea Jarriel’s Anatomy & Physiology class with a big announcement…the Senior had been named Dublin High School's 2023-2024 STAR Student!
A STAR student is chosen each year by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators [PAGE] for achieving the highest single-sitting SAT score in the school and meeting other stringent academic requirements, such as maintaining a GPA in the top 10% of their class.
That student, in turn, can recognize the staff member who has most positively impacted their educational journey. Jarriel’s STAR Teacher is none other than Mrs. Danee' Brooks, the Dublin City Schools College and Career Academy’s CNA and Allied Health Instructor.
“I selected Mrs. Brooks as my STAR Teacher because, from the very first day of class, I just felt like I connected with her and knew I’d be able to talk with her not only about what was happening in my pathway but in my life,” said Jarriel. “She’s been a super helpful teacher, and I’m glad I had this chance to surprise her.”
In addition to excelling in the classroom, Jarriel is an Allied Health Pathway completer and member of The WAY Star Student Advisory Board. She also played softball for Lady Irish and is a Fighting Irish Wrestling Manager. Additionally, Jarriel is a REACH Scholar, meaning that she will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship for up to four years of college - $2500 per year - that can be used at any Georgia HOPE eligible two or four-year college.
Outside of Dublin High School, Jarriel works at Chick-fil-A Dublin. Fighting Irish Family, join us in congratulating Lea and Mrs. Brooks for these outstanding accomplishments!
