Location and Size
The Mediterranean sea is part of the Atlantic ocean surrounded by the mediterranean region. It also is almost completely surrounded by land. To the north is Southern Europe and Anatolia. To the south is North Africa. The the east is Levant. It covers 96,000 square miles and the average depth is 1,500 meters (4,900 ft). The deepest part is 5267 meters deep (17,280 ft). The countries that border it include Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Montenegro, Northern Cyprus (recognized only by Turkey), Palestine, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, and Tunisia.

The Mediterranean Sea has a vast amount of marine and animal life containing everything from algae to sharks to turtles and more.

The Mediterranean Sea has a huge amount of underwater plant life that fish and animals alike rely on for food.

The Mediterranean Sea has a subtropical climate. They have hot summers and mild winters. The winds can control the temperature too.

Human Characteristics- Language
Some of the languages spoken in the countries that border the sea include Turkish, Arabic, Slavic, and Greek. There are many more, these are just the main ones spoken.

The religions found in the Mediterranean region include Hebrew, Jewish, Zoroastrian, early Christian, Greek, Roman, and Islamic religious traditions.

Most of the countries in the area are united into a partnership called the Union For The Mediterranean. The Union promotes Human rights and democracy.
Human Characteristics- Economic Activities
Some economic activities include lots of fishing and hunting the that sea. Lots of large industrial fishing fleets are deployed and fish more days at a time to bring back huge amounts of fish and other catch.
Human Characteristics- Population Distribution
The Mediterranean region's population is very spread out and occasionally has dense populations of people in major cities while for the most part is very spread out. Istanbul is an example of an extremely dense populated area surrounded by lightly populated areas.
Natural Resources
The Mediterranean has lots of land for agriculture. Also, it has vasts amounts of minerals such as gold, iron, and silver. It also has lots of fish and timber.
Analysis
The Mediterranean has influenced the way people live around it in many ways. For the most part lots of people tend to live near by or along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. Lots of cities are built on the coasts for the fish the Mediterranean Sea contains. One example of a major city is Alexandria which is located in northern Egypt.
