Colgate Dental Van
We have some great news to share!
On Thursday, October 27, the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® mobile van unit will visit our school from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m.! During this visit, the BSBF team will provide free dental health and well-being education, conduct visual dental screenings and teach your child how to take care of their bright smile. Your child will be screened by an oral health professional and will receive a new toothbrush, toothpaste sample, brushing chart, and list of offices for dental care if needed. This visual dental screening does not replace a regular dental check-up and visit.
The MVU maintains important safety procedures which include:
- The BSBF team wear proper protective gear, including mask, gloves, gown, face shield and/or goggles.
- All volunteers, workers, and students wear a mask before entering the screening area on the mobile unit.
- Upon entering the MVU, BSBF staff will provide your child with a disposable mask.
- The mobile unit is wiped down with disinfectant between students and cleaned completely with disinfectant at night.
In order for your child to participate and visit the Colgate mobile van unit, please complete the attached consent form and bring to the Dental Van registration area that afternoon. Forms will also be sent home with your student.
Screenings will be completed on a first come, first served basis.
Thank you,

Counselors' Corner
Jaguar of the Month Program
Jaguar of the Month is a student reward program (grades K-5) that incorporates character traits from the website/program, Character First Education. A new character trait is introduced every month and students will engage in classroom discussions and activities to reinforce the trait. At the end of the month, each teacher will identify a student who consistently demonstrated the targeted trait. These students will be recognized on JagTube, receive a certificate, keychain and a Jackson Jaguar pencil. Grade level group photos will be displayed on the bulletin board near the front office AND Jaguars of the Month will attend a popsicle party with Dr. Roach, our principal!
The trait for October is Self-Control. We will be discussing what self-control means and how students can exhibit the trait during classroom community circles. Keep up the good work, Jaguars!

Jackson Families,
Our Fall fundraiser with Butter Braids kicked off on Wednesday September 28th. We hope you all have received the welcome letter, order form, and collection envelopes. We have set a goal for each student to sell 10 butter braids! Please use the provided worksheet to identify some groups that you can reach out to first! If each student sells 10 butter braids, we will earn a significant amount of money for our school to use on field trips for each grade, as well as the ability to host some fun guest speakers!
To this effort, we will be tracking our butter braid sales by grade level, and offering a POPCORN PARTY to the grade with the highest percentage of sales!
Jackson families, go out there and support our students and our school! We are eager to bring back the fun!
With all of our support and gratitude,
Your Jackson Elementary PTA
