We will be wrapping up Unit 1 in our Lead 21 Reading Series this week. We will spend time reviewing all of the skills we've focused on this unit: topic, main idea, proper and common nouns, author's purpose, synonyms, inferencing, and plural nouns.

On Monday your child will come home with a mystery bag clues sheet. They need to find an item around the house that they can put in a bag to bring to school. On the clues sheet they will write down four clues that will help their peers make an inference on what is in the bag. Please send the items to school on Thursday.

Writer's Workshop

We will finish revising our class book, and then move on to editing. This is when we check for proper capitalization, spelling, and punctuation in the writing.

We will start Topic 3 this week. In this new topic we will discuss regrouping with adding and subtracting. This is when you carry with addition and borrow with subtraction.

The students did an awesome job on the first timed test. This week the timed test will be all subtraction facts. Once again it will be 50 problems with questions like 11-4 = and 14- 8=. Be sure to spend 5-10 minutes each night practicing facts.

We will continue learning about changing environments.

Wolf Walk Fun

Even though the Wolf Walk was officially rained out on Friday, we had fun all week dressing up and exercising in the classroom and out on the middle school track. A big shout out to Kristy Benefiel and all her hard work. A big thank you to all the parents that sent in donations.

Student Survey

If you didn't get the chance to fill out the student survey form at Back To School Night, here's the link to the survey. Thanks for taking time to let me get to know your child a little better.
