A Note from Mrs. Palmer
Dear EES Families,
This week EES will host a Virtual Literacy Event. The parent video is about the importance of reading aloud to your child. The 20 minute video goes over the benefits and the ways to do it. I encourage you to view it when you have time.
I encourage each of you to continue to practice the 3 W's: Wash your Hands, Watch your distance, and Wear face coverings. These mitigations are important in bringing down the number of positive covid cases within our community. At EES, we following the 3 W's to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.
Thank you for allowing us to teach your child(ren) at EES.
I wish you well...
Mrs. Palmer

Join the EES PTA - We need YOU!
Please consider joining our EES PTA for this school year, 2020-2021!
Last spring we were able to complete our Joe Corbi pizza fundraiser. Thank you to all who helped make that a success!
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, we were not able to meet and vote on spending these funds during the spring.
We want to spend these funds as our school leadership team is identifying needs that directly help our kids. In order to spend these funds, we need to have members! Then we can have a meeting (electronic) and vote on proposed motions. We are looking to vote by email (survey monkey or google forms or some such platform). Being a member does not obligate you to do any projects...we just need voting members!
How much are PTA dues? $5.00
Please make the check payable to EES PTA. Please mail it to the school at 302 B Street, Elkton, VA 22827 or drop it off at the EES office. (Attention: EES PTA).
Please, please, please attach a sticky note with a name (member) and an email address. The email address is very important to have as that is how we will be meeting and voting! Please fill out the Joining the EES PTA eform, too. This information will not be shared with any other groups or persons.

We are also looking for 2 officers to help guide our decision making. We need a vice-president, (not a president-elect--you do not obligate yourself to leading the PTA next year), and a corresponding secretary. We are looking for 2 people who are willing to share ideas and give opinions on how to best to support our kids at EES, and attend a few additional board meetings.
EES PTA contributions to our school: Art Night, Online program subscriptions that support instruction, Clothing for kids, 5th grade celebration, Greeting card contest, Reflections Art & Literature contest, Library books, Books for School-side literacy special programs, Red Ribbon Week, Nurse expenses, ERHS Scholarship, Teacher & Staff Appreciation, and more!
Why Join PTA?
PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. Today's PTA is comprised of 5 million caring adults who share a commitment to improving the education, health, and safety of all children. The PTA's nationwide network provides parents with the forum and tools to collectively influence the decisions that affect children not only at their schools, but also throughout their districts, within their states, and across the nation.
Many benefits our children receive today, such as universal kindergarten, the National School Lunch Program, and a juvenile justice system, were accomplished as a result of the PTA mission.
