Please be sure your child dresses for the weather as temperatures drop, as we are outdoors for recess if the wind chill is above 0. Be sure to label cold weather gear with your child's name.

Christmas Sharing

Each year, Lowell School partners with several local churches to make the holidays brighter for families in need. This year we will be collecting donations starting on Monday, December 1st. We will be collecting food and gently used/new toys and games. Suggested donations are: bagged rice/dried beans, pasta, canned soups, macaroni and cheese, pasta sauce, canned fruits/vegetables, peanut butter & jelly, fruit juice, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and laundry detergent. The church will be picking up all donations on Tuesday, December 9th. Thanks in advance for your contributions!!

The Green Corner: Green Club Business

At the most recent meeting of the Green Club, Lowell parent Ryan Howard spoke to members about the many steps he takes as a business owner to minimize his company's negative impact on the planet. For example, Mr. Howard's company employs variable frequency drives (VFDs) to cut down on energy usage and also purchases renewable energy credits to offset the power it uses. The students then worked in groups to envision and design their own companies and created a project to show what green efforts their companies would contain. Examples included a bank with solar panels and LED lights and a pet shop with a green roof. Be sure to look for their projects, which will be on display at school soon. The earth is in good hands thanks to these innovative future leaders!
