Lincoln Middle School Weekend Update
Every year, schools are required to meet the mandates of Erin's Law. As we look ahead, we wanted to let you know that all of our students will participate in a classroom presentation delivered by our mental health team: Grace Sefton (School Social Worker), Steve Henkel (School Counselor), and Chris Steininger (School Social Worker) to educate in an age-appropriate way about childhood sexual abuse.
A separate presentation has been prepared for each grade. 6th grade will focus on empowerment and safe vs. unsafe touches. 7th grade will focus on sexual harassment and reporting. 8th grade will focus on teen dating, violence, and consent. These presentations will occur during the week of December 12 and happen during your students’ gym/health class.
Erin’s Law mandates sexual abuse prevention education for public school children in Illinois. More information about Erin’s Law can be found here. Please do not hesitate to contact the mental health team if you have any follow-up questions about the presentations. Their contact is provided below.

Morning Entry For Students
Please note the following morning procedures for the winter months. These guidelines will be in effect each morning through the end of February.
Bus riders will wait in the West gym starting at 7:30 am. Bus riders should enter the West gym using Door #5. (Door #5 is located by the two green dumpsters.) Students will be dismissed from the West gym at 7:37 am to allow them additional time to get through the building.
Students waiting at Door #2, #7, #19 and #21 will come inside the building using their regular entry door and wait just inside the door area. Students will head to their lockers upon the ringing of the entry bell.
If you have any questions regarding these procedures, please email Mr. Steen: rsteen@d57.org.
Cartooning and Character Art Club
This club will provide an outlet for students to learn more about creating cartoons and further their creative use of art. Please complete this form for your student to participate in the Cartooning and Character Art Club at Lincoln. We are very proud of our students’ contributions to our school community and hope they have a valuable and enjoyable experience. Completed form and payment of the activity fee ($25.00) is due by Monday, January 9th.
Retake Photos
If your child had their photographs retaken in November, their retake photographs will be distributed in Advisory on Monday, December 12. Please remind your child to bring their school pictures home next week.
