PAWS to Read

Austin H.

Reading is Super Fun

I chose this quote because I feel like it expresses my feelings about reading and why I like to read. It takes me on adventures and ignites my imagination.

About Me

I like reading because it takes me to different worlds and teaches me interesting facts. I can remember I liked reading when I was younger because it entertained me and kept me engaged and interested. Right now I read at breakfast because it is boring to just eat and stare off into space. I also read at night because I have time before I go to bed. Either way, I think reading is fun.

Author Research - J.R.R Tolkien

Who was J.R.R. Tolkien? He was a major scholar in the English language, specializing in old and Middle English. More importantly, though, he wrote books like The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Tolkien was born on January 3, 1892 in South Africa. Four years later, in 1896, his father died and his family moved back to England. In 1904, his mother died because of diabetes. A priest took care of him and his brother. By that time, He had mastered Latin and greek and was already competent in other languages like Gothic and Finnish. Later, in 1916, he was enlisted to fight in the Western front. After the war ended, he went back to England and began writing stories and books.

I think he appeals to readers because he writes the usual adventure novel, but it is very unique and different from others.

In conclusion, he is a great author.
