PATHWAYS NIGHT AT COMPASS ACADEMY - THIS TUESDAY!
Does you student have questions about their post-secondary options? Do they feel unsure about the next step? Attending Pathways Night at Compass Academy could help!
Pathways Night highlights post high school career opportunities that don’t require a four-year college degree. Representatives from Elgin Community College, various technical schools, cosmetology schools, apprenticeship opportunities, skilled trades, all branches of the US military, and many local businesses will be present at this event. Pathways Night will be conducted in a fair format, where students and their families can speak directly to our guests at over thirty different tables representing different career or training opportunities.
While this event is hosted by Compass Academy, it is for all D303 high school students. ALL of our Navigators, Saints, and Stars (and their families) are welcome to attend and learn more about what great opportunities for career growth and development are out there waiting to be discovered. We look forward to seeing you there!
STUDENTS MAY COMPLETE THEIR LUNCH ORDER FOR THE WEEK BY CLICKING THE BOX ABOVE AND MAKING THEIR SELECTION BY 9:45 A.M. MONDAY MORNING.
EXTENDED STUDY FOR STUDENTS
Please not that students who still need to make revisions on 1st quarter work in order to meet competency will need to develop a plan with their teacher to resubmit the work for assessment during their 1st semester portfolio defense in December. We support students who need extended time to demonstrate competency, in alignment with the "not yet" concept, but students who need this additional support must take the initiative to develop a plan with their teacher to focus their efforts effectively. These students are encouraged to work with their teacher during flex each day and/or to stay for additional academic support during Block D if they aren't scheduled during that time.

CITY OF ST. CHARLES JOB SHADOWING PROGRAM - AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT CAREERS OF INTEREST AND EARN CREDIT
Many Compass Academy students have already begun participating in job shadowing through this program, but we are hoping that even more students will participate in this fantastic opportunity throughout the year. In the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including engineering, communications, accounting, firefighting, government, law enforcement, construction, forestry, water management, and vehicle maintenance. Students who participate in job shadowing on Wednesdays, and then write reflections about their experiences, have the opportunity to earn credit for career exploration.
Interested students should print and complete the Registration Form and return it to Ms. Ohlson at Compass Academy. Students may also receive a paper copy of this form from Ms. Ohlson in her office.
