1. List the earliest computing device you can find. What year was it invented, who invented it? what was the technology, how has adapted into today’s machines?

Humans appeared on Earth around 200,000 years ago. They were the earliest of computing technology by using their hands, fingers, feet and toes to count. For centuries they used this technique for counting until the abacus was invented and made math easier. 200,000 years late, humans no longer need to use phalanges to count, but now have access to calculators to do the math for them.

Fifty years ago, Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments, invented a chip called the integrated circuit that was about the revolutionize technology. His goal for doing this was to solve the problem of “the tyranny of numbers.” Kilby went against the company to discover his new creation. The integrated circuit was able to interconnect things like transistors, diodes, etc. The impact that i had on us today is that it took computers from room size to the size of a book, helped man walk on the moon, allowed deaf people to hear, and many more. Overall, this invention completely revolutionized technology and had a large impact on almost every sector of technology.

They were able to discover different forms of math like “fractions, algebra, quadratic and cubic equations, the Pythagorean theorem, the calculation of Pythagorean triples and possibly trigonometric functions” (History of Information). When making these discoveries, the Babylonians didn’t use numbers, but symbols. They created tables that included things like squares of numbers, cubes, square roots, cube roots, etc. So not only did they develop the first algorithms for excavations, linear equations, and geometric problems, but they completely revolutionized math for mathematicians to follow.
