Here's What's Happening at Milan Elementary School
October Students of the Month are Trustworthy
The Milan Elementary Student of the Month theme for October was “Trustworthy” and teachers were watching for students who could be counted on to make good choices and do the right thing.
Chosen as outstanding examples of this very desirable character trait were:
Kindergarten: James Miller, Easton McKittrick, Lily Pannone, Trey Gill, Easton Bergman.
Grade 1: Jesse Welch, Ellinore Lewis, Claire Burton.
Grade 2: Lainey Stock, Kadance Williams, Cooperlynn Lloyd, Riley Deaton.
Grade 3: Payton Collins, Logan Bruns, Aiden Arthur.
Grade 4: Ruby Brown, Sophia Lewis, Violet Thome, Opal Shook.
Pictured with the students in the photo above is Mr. Ron Mills representing the Milan American Legion. Certificates were prepared for the students by Mrs. Thelma Reese of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Help!!! Girls on the Run Volunteers Needed!
Our Milan Girls on the Run group needs you! Longtime Coach Mrs. Melissa Sanders has decided to take a break after coaching for 21 seasons and, although we are fortunate to have some returning coaches, our team is in need of more new coaches if the program is to continue as it has been. Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, anyone who would like to volunteer - all are welcome!
The Spring season is Feb. 26-May 18, and the team meets twice a week, usually Monday and Tuesday. You do not need to be a runner, training is provided, and everything is super organized and written out for you. No lesson planning needed!
Volunteers need to be finalized by January 18 so you’ll need to sign up as soon as possible. For more information, feel free to contact Mrs. Sanders at melissa.sanders@milan.k12.in.us or Lynn Hertel at lynn.hertel@girlsontherun.org if you have questions. If you’re ready to make a difference in the life of a student, you can sign up at https://www.raceplanner.com/volunteer/signup/MGGRMVFLH1YOA0C .
Thank you!

MCSC Family Night Out – January 24
Our school corporation has arranged for motivational speaker Logan Weber to visit on Wednesday, January 24. The topic of Mr. Weber’s presentation will be “Sticks and Stones Exposed: The Power of Words in Relationships” and is about how our words affect our relationships with others, including our children.
The evening begins with some of Milan’s student leaders presenting about their initiatives this year in our schools and in our community. Then, parents will join Mr. Weber for his presentation while the students are treated to a night of games and fun in the gym. The Milan STARS/CARES group will be selling concessions from 5:30-6:15. Student leader presentations begin at 5:45 p.m. and, at 6:30 p.m., parents join Mr. Weber in the cafeteria while students enjoy games in the gym. The evening's activities should end around 7:30 p.m.
It promises to be fun, entertaining, as well as enlightening evening for all! We hope you’ll join us!
