Previous Updates:
Fall Harvest Parade & Parties - 10/28
Wilson Hill has set a date of Friday, October 28th to celebrate our annual Harvest Parties and Parade. Below you'll find some important details.
Harvest Parade: Our Harvest Parade is a fun event where students get to walk a specific route around the outside of the building to show off their costumes. The parade will begin promptly at 1:30pm on our playground behind the school. We ask that parents who arrive to view the parade form two lines (like a tunnel) beginning at door 6. Parents are not required to sign in at the office on this day, unless they are volunteering inside the classroom. Students will exit through door #6. Kindergarten will come out the doors first, followed by 1st grade and so on. The students will walk across the playground, around the gym, toward the front of the building, and re-enter through the main entrance. Click the link below to see the exact parade route. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold a modified parade for the students inside the building, however due to maximum capacity rules, parents will not be permitted inside the building. We will attempt to record the parade and send it out electronically if we are forced inside due to weather.
Parties: Classroom parties will begin immediately following our parade (1:40ish). Your child's teacher will be communicating more details about their specific party and food well in advance, but please remember our district policy regarding classroom parties: Classroom parties (ie: Harvest Celebration, Winter Holidays, Valentines’, and year-end parties), which remain an important part of sharing celebration with students, may include reasonable food items. We encourage pre-packaged food items which include an ingredient listing to inform consumption choices.
Teachers will notify families in advance of school-wide parties, and share the items to be consumed during the school party. This permits parents to scrutinize the food being served, and provide an alternative when necessary to meet their individual student’s needs.
We are confident that all parents can assist us with celebrating each child in ways that do not adversely impact the health, safety, and well-being of the growing number of students for whom food allergens and other conditions are an issue.
Special Note Regarding Student Costumes:
Students should bring costumes to school with them. All students will change into their costumes around 1:10 pm. Please do not wear costumes to school.
Costumes should not be graphic or depict violence
No weapons as part of costumes
Students need to be able to get costumes on primarily by themselves in a reasonable amount of time.
