Biofuel comes from all and bio-based products come from biomass, a term that covers any biological material that can be made into fuel.
What is Ethanol?
Ethanol is the type of biofuel that will mostly be used by cars in the future, ethanol is mostly made from corn or sugarcane
What is Biodiesel?
Biodiesel this will be a substitute for diesel fuel in the future and will mostly be used by trucks, it is mostly made from soy beans
Is there anything else that can be used?
Yes, things like wood chips and hot water (to create steam) could be used to power houses with electricity in the future

Over the last year, biofuel has received a lot of attention and investment because of gas prices rising
2005: 4 billion gallons of gasoline used
2004: 3 billion gallons of gasoline used
2003: 2.7 billion gallons of gasoline used
Where is Biofuel used most?
Brazil, In Brazil the sugar cane industry is huge. They use it to make ethanol to reduce their dependence on foreign oils.
Problems With Ethanol.
Ethanol is currently made from corn and the way corn is grown in the us is not sustainable. Corn is often genetically modified, and grown using fossil fuels which is a set back.
