Hello, Kia ora, Chomreabsour, Mālo ni, Ni hao, Kia orāna, Talofa lava, Namaste, Hola, Hallo, Chào bạn, Bula Vinaka, Kumusta, Guten Tag, Mālō e lelei , An-nyeong-ha-se-yo, greetings to all our School Families.

From the principal's desk

Tena koutou katoa,

The student’s were buzzing yesterday morning with the biannual arrival of the Life Education Mobile Classroom. The Mobile Classroom will be with us until next Wednesday, enabling all Year 0-6 students to have two sessions focusing on the theme of ‘Social Relationships’. Due to tight time frames our Year 7/8 students will get to experience Life Education next year in the 2023 cycle. I’m sure if many of you cast your mind back long enough to your schooling you will recall Life Education sessions where ‘Harold the Giraffe’ made a guest appearance.

We welcome Mike Budd our Life Education Facilitator and thank him for the great job he does delivering engaging content to our tamariki.

As parents, family/ whānau a couple of good follow up questions to ask your children are:

  • What did you learn from your Life Education session today?

  • What is one thing you are going to work on to do with social relationships?

Ngā mihi nui

Te Aroha 2022 A & P Show

Congratulations to all of our students who submitted entries for the Te Aroha Home Industries section at the A and P show last weekend. The standard was really high and the artwork looked amazing. We came away with some individual prizes, with TAPS earning the overall school prize. It is really important for our community that our local schools are able to support this display, and many thanks to the wonderful team of people who work really hard every year to make this event happen.

Thanks also to all our Kapa Haka students who gave an awesome performance on the day, so much so, that the school has received wonderful praise from members of the community saying that the group is a credit to Stanley Avenue School and we should be very proud of them!

Needless to say...we are. Great Job Stanley Ave. Ka pai!

Year 7/8 Graduation Social

Those parents/caregivers without children in senior classes might like to know how we acknowledge our senior students at the end of the year.

Our Year 7/8 students learn a series of social dances during Term 4. The social committee selects a theme and then go about organising decorations for our Rec Centre. At the social, the students enjoy showcasing their newly learned dancing skills, with each other and their parents, before the formal presentation of awards.

Trophies are awarded for General Excellence, Academic, and Arts Excellence, Citizenship, Role Model and sporting achievements.

Results will be published in the Te Aroha News.

Parents of Year 7/8 students are formally invited to attend and share this night with their child.

This year's graduation is to be held on Thursday 8th December at 7pm

HERO Digital Reports

Welcome to Term 4!

This term we will be producing our very first digital end of year reports on HERO.

For this we need each parent to have their own email registered with us. You don’t need to use the email for anything else, you just need your own email to sign into the app on your phone. One of the fantastic things about HERO is that it is designed specifically as an app to work on phones and is the best way to access it. On the day that reports are sent it will be right there on your HERO app. On the report it will show you how you can download and print the report if you are wanting to, however it will always sit in their HERO profile for you.

The Hero app enables teachers and students to share information about a student’s learning, progress, and achievement to support learning and improve student outcomes.

It provides a platform for promoting student agency and building a strong partnership between the student, their teacher/s, and the student’s family.

Once you have downloaded HERO, open it and click on “new user”.

Next enter the email you have registered with us under your name, set your password and then either enjoy or let us know if there are any issues.
