Mark your calendar for the first day of the 22/23 school year:
- Tues, Sept 6, 2022 - First day for 1st-8th graders
- Wed, Sept 7, 2022 - First day for kindergarteners
- Tues, Sept 13, 2022 - First day for preschoolers
The Board of Education would like to recognize individuals of the district 33 community - which includes all staff members, students, bus drivers, parents/guardians, and guardians - for actions that build a positive culture and climate in District 33.
This "shout-out" will take place at Board meetings as an agenda item called "Board Salute" and become part of the official minutes.

New Coordinator of Teaching and Learning
Whitnie Del Toro has been an educator for 15 years, the last ten years in West Chicago District 33. In her tenure in D33, she has spent six years at Currier as a 3rd-grade teacher and Gifted Specialist. Additionally, she has served as a 5th-grade teacher, and most recently, she has been the district lead math teacher for the past three years.
New Director of Multilingual Learners
Ms. Ortiz currently serves as the Director of EL Services for Lyons School District 103, joining District 103 in 2018. During her time at District 103, she has established a strong foundation for the EL Department. She has been awarded multiple grants based on improvements in ACCESS Scores, ACCESS exit rates, and English Proficiency Scores.
New Assistant Director of Technology and Infrastructure
Mr. Cowart is currently the Network Administrator for the Technology Department. He has nine years of experience in technology. Jeff began his career here at West Chicago Elementary School District in 2013. As Network Administrator for the last nine years, he has been able to help the district accomplish major infrastructure upgrades such as Wi-Fi, VOIP, Security Cameras, Laptops, AV equipment, and 1:1 devices for students.
West Chicago Public Library
Read beyond the beaten path this summer as we transform ourselves into West Chicago National Park. During our summer reading kickoff, you can visit our survival supply store and pick up everything you need for your summer reading adventure. We will also have furry visitors from Cosley Zoo and special prize drawings for those who register during the kickoff! There is a reading program for every age, so make sure to bring the whole family!
No registration is needed. All items are while supplies last.
