Weekly Eagle News
Fall 2022, 11th edition, 10/31/2022 - 11/04/2022
A Message from Our Principal
Dear Eagles,
We have passed the halfway point of the semester and it’s finally feeling like fall is here. We hope that all is well as we near the holiday season. For this newsletter, we will highlight our second Core Value, Integrity. We have defined Integrity as “We strive to do the right thing every day, every time. Our words and our actions match.” Just as with our Core Value of Respect, we have observed our Eagles displaying Integrity in a variety of ways: completing all their work for a chapter/unit in a class, making all the practices in a season on an athletic team, cleaning up litter in the stands after a football game, supporting a fellow Eagle that is in the midst of a struggle, turning in a found wallet with cash and credit cards inside, etc. While these acts can easily go unnoticed, we strive to recognize them with our Eagle Expectation Awards Cards, based on our Core Values and Eagle Expectations, to let students know we notice and appreciate their positive behaviors that help make our campus a better place for learning. As we continue this work, we will consistently revisit our Core Values and Eagle Expectations in and out of the classroom. We welcome your feedback and input on how to refine this work in order to continually improve. We appreciate your support and ongoing conversations with your student as we are seeing a positive difference.
Go Eagles!
Dan

Scholarships
ELKS TEENAGER OF THE MONTH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The Oceano/Five Cities Elks Lodge #2504 selects an AGHS senior male and female each month based on achievements, character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastics. The Teenager of the Month will be recognized at an Elk’s dinner and will then be eligible for selection of "Teenager of the Year". Monthly for the 22'23 School Year - Completed application should be submitted to Brianna.boyd@lmusd.org. Students only need to apply once. If your application is not chosen in a given month, it will be considered for the following month. The sooner you turn in an application, the more opportunities you will have for selection. At the end of April, we have a panel of Elks Members judge the Student of the Month Applications. From this pool, we will select one male and one female who will each receive a college scholarship.
Go to the AGHS Website under scholarships for more information or stop by the Career Center.
