STEM UPDATE
A huge THANK YOU for the newspaper, cereal boxes, and plastic bottles! At this time our needs are plastic straws, foil (sheets or rolls), cotton balls, and q-ips. If you are willing to pick one of these items up for us and send it in, we would greatly appreciate it!
Are you in a STEM Field? One of my objects for the class is to get our young students excited and aware of the variety of STEM careers. This coming week we are excited to welcome a neuroscientist, Dr. Averitt and her grad students. They will be sharing with first grade about the brain. I am looking for a few more professionals in STEM fields that would like to spend the day with us next spring. If you would be interested in coming and sharing with our students, please contact me at jjohnson@argyleisd.com.
Coding Club Update: We have a great combination of second and third graders and a mix of boys and girls for our inaugural group of coders. Our Eagles have been learning how to talk to the computer by programming it with block coding to run simple programs and using loops. While our club is full for right now, we will start a new group in January. We would love for you to join us! Watch Hilltop Happenings for updates later this fall.
